    Hi guys

I have a 2003 VFR800 that I had sitting for a bit and took it for a small ride but something stranged happened.

As I came to a stop to talk to someone and then decided to get back on the road (I was next to my house which was a good thing), when I tried to engage lever, and then shift the transmission from neutral to 1st while holding the lever the bike dies immediatly as if either by the cutoff switch or the clutch being siezed or something else. The bike has only 4419 miles on it so I am pretty sure the clutch should still be in good shape. I was wondering what I can try to resolve the problem myself, I am pretty good at work on things on my own just have limited experience working on bikes.

    Thanks in Advance
    Carlos

Sounds like something is faulty with the sensor that checks if your side stand is down...

check all your safety switches.....kick stand , centerstand....those types ....and does it just "shut off" or does it jump like the clutch is slipping?

doesn't jump at all. I will check it out today.. Where exactly is that sensor? Costs on a replacement sensor? Any FAQ on checking the sensors and etc? I got a service manual on CD somewhere :)

Thanks for all the replies so far.
