Yes folks, a mere 43 days after crashing my VFR and breaking my ankle, I climbed back into the saddle today, and went on "The Maiden Voyage Part 2". As you can imagine, it was both fun yet a little scarey at the same time. Someone must have called ahead because at about the time I decided to head home, it started to rain...just what I needed on my first trip back out......WELCOME BACK ! ha ha Anyway....call it timid, call it careful, but I'm riding like a total newbie...probably what I should have done in the first place. I thought 12 years of riding experience was enough, but as a re-entry rider after a 5 year hiatus, my skills were obviously rusty before, and still are. Anyway, it was great to be back on the bike and I'm sure within a few weeks I will be getting back to my normal confident and capable self on the road. The bike really only suffered minor damage in the crash, and after I replaced the bent subframe/fairing mount, everything lined up nicely. My left upper and left middle fairing have rash, but given that its a red bike with black accents, the black roadrash hardly stands out....plus, I'm always going SO FAST, you will never even see it ha ha. When I get around to it, I'm going to order new plastic...but hey, in the mean time...with the rashed up plastic, it's almost like having FRAME SLIDERS.....more like ablative fairings. really... I signed up for the MSF Basic/Beginner course...I figured, what the heck...go back to school and learn everything all over again. I also have a friend who is interested in riding and I told him I would take the Basic course with him, so it seems like a win-win. Mike
welcome back although you never seemed to leave to us... you're like that uncle who gets drunk and just stays and stays and stays.... just kidding...
