Well I got to work to find a screw in my rear tire. Can I put a plug in it to get me home? About an hour drive. I've been calling local shops here in Baltimore and it seems like either a lack of experience with plugging bikes or they don't think I should do it? I have til tomorrow morning to figure out what to do. Some advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone who can help!! Michael

I had just bought a new tire once for a zx7r and then ran over a nail in my own driveway...rear tire. That was like 6 years ago so I can't remember all the details, but I did put a plug in the tire and it ran fine. I can't remember how long I rode it that way till I sold the bike. I never ran it at high speeds but a quality shop put the plug in. HOWEVER...since our lives are put into the hands of two tires and one is questionable, I am guessing it isn't a recommended practice. If it were the front tire then you could just wheelie all the way home...

Where is the screw? As long as it is near the center of the tread I would think you could plug it and make it home riding smart. It is not ideal, but a lot people plug tires to get to a point where they can get a replacement.

Thanks guys...that's exactly what I wanted to hear...not ideal, but ok for a temp fix. The screw is in fact just left of center... about 1000 mi on them. Dunlop Qualifiers. I should be ok If I take it easy. A tire and towing company is putting it in in the am. They should be ok. Thanks again for the quick reply!!!
