    Hello Fellows,
    Quick questions. Just getting into my second 1000 miles on a 96 that came to me with 8k on the odo.
    It seems the left peg buzzes more than the right. Is that normal? I'm getting some ST1100 footpegs with rubber, ASAP. Don't like the vibrations and will be touring more than sporting.
    One other oddity. At night, my low beams are barely adequate to keep making forward progress at 45mph. Yet, the high beams scorch 2X as far and are very adequate. Are they separate bulbs? What's a good replacement? No HID kit and install for me.

    re: peg buzz

    IIRC the right peg mount has a weight/ballast bolted to the inside that the left lacked. I took it off mine (extra weight being the enemy) and threw it out so they both buzzed the same. Your priorities appear to differ though.....l:biggrin:

    Same bulb for high and low beam.
    I put Piaa H4 bulbs and that helped a lot.

    The left peg buzz is common to all gens of this bike. The left peg is weighted. Also, chain maint. helps. Keep it oiled and not stretched. An older chain can develop tight spots that contribute to the buzz. To check for tight spots--you can put the bike on the center stand and put the bike in neutral, roll the back tire and watch the chain. If it gets tighter and looser as the wheel turns, it is time for a new one.

    I have a friend that had similar complaints. He put pegs from an old F2 that had rubber tops. Personally, it doesn't bother me.

    I'm looking into each response.
    Thought it might be the chain, adjusted it later that day. I think it does have a tight spot. It was a tad loose, and take up from close throttle/open throttle was jerky.
    F2 pegs will be searched.
    PIAA, huh? Heard they are expensive.

    Don't notice any buzz through my pegs (a 94) - strange.
    Re lights I got a pair of Hella plus 90% in mine which made a huge difference. Although Honda are H4 it seems a different H4 to everyone else so had to bend the tabs back so they fitted - bit of a fiddly job the whole thing but would be much easier second time around! These have done over 6000k so seem to be holding up

    I didn't notice the left peg buzz until I was riding yesterday.
    I guess I was looking for it after I read this thread.
    Before, I hadn't notice it. It's there but does not bother me.

    Be sure to check for proper headlight AIM as it's adjustable and is usually skewed if bike has been dropped or crashed.

    Proper headlight aim is subject to some state or federal regs, but basically the highbeam setting is just barely below horizontal, and when highbeams are correct, the lows are also as there is no separate adjustment.

    You're the guy who rails against Chinese manufacturing? The ST1100 footpegs are 70 bucks!
    I found a nice company in Hong Kong that makes some rubberized pegs for 22 bucks incl.shipping. (How you get anything from HK to Connecticut for 22 dollars, I don't have a clue) After I get them installed, I'll let you know how long they last before they break. Will a good set of pegs eventually cost me 92 dollars?
    I want to see if they make a big difference. If they work well, I'll just buy 2 more pairs and forget about it. If they don't work well, I'll get the Honda OEM's.
