    #380

Hello all, I picked up #380 a cpl weeks ago (6/5/09) new as a left over. The dealer had it sitting on the floor. He said they had "lost" it in the wherehouse. When I saw it I fell in lust. This is my 5th VFR. I orderd the Leo exhaust for it that night. Love the sound and look of the Leo cans. Gimpy

    White rims on the RWB?

You know boys & girls, I did several Google searches for images of the original 83-84 RWB Interceptor, and oddly enough, it appears it had BLACK spokes, with a silver edge on the rim itself...

1983 VF750F Interceptor by Honda - Motorcycle Museum at Bob Logue Motorsports

I also found some with gold on the rim edge, or fully gold wheels.

It did have that silver/gray steel perimeter frame, which got me to thinking about painting my frame silver/gray...

    Thoughts?

I painted mine peral white to match the bike. I get a lot of comments on them.

Yes I did use the tri coat paint. I now work for a paint company but used to be a painter in a body shop so that was no problem for me.

My RWB Vin ends with 901367

    Hey Gang,

I just picked up a leftover RWB 07" with Vin # ending in 901367

Does this suggest that Honda imported at least 1,367 VFR's in 2007?

    Thanks, Boston

not really becuase the number don't seem to be in any order and there seems to be some bikes with the same last three digits (abs vs non abs)

Anybody know of any leftover RWBs with ABS that are sitting around (preferably near MO)? Kinda looking for one and would appreciate any help. Already tried E-BAY. I have found some RWBs and ABSs on E-Bay, but no RWB ABS.

Ask your dealer. Mine did not have a VFR at all, let alone a RWB one. But I told him I wanted one, and he got it for me, fresh out of the crate.
I saved money, he made money, and I had the fun of seeing my bike arrive and get set up (a first for me). A win-win situation.

If you have a dealer you like, in this economy it's worth throwing him (or her) a bone by offering them the chance to find you a bike if they don't have it. It's convenient if it works out, and you get a warm fuzzy knowing you did your part for your local economy.

Yes the RWB w/ABS are hard to find. There is another thread listing bikes and prices but I haven't been able to find a dealer with one for the prices listed. A dealer in Tennessee said he can get one from the warehouse and he wanted $9600 plus tax title prep, etc. I thought that was a bit high. I'm in Ohio and was willing to go to Tennessee but I'd like a lower price and the insurance company hasn't paid for mine yet...stillwaiting on that check

I think a magnesium blue wheel would look wonderful on your RWB....here is a sample color we did on my buddies Daytona:

Just thought I'd chime in here... I do not own a RWB VFR but lets say that I have seen a few

American Honda will not tell you how many of ANY specific models were manufactured. However, as always time will eventually tell.

You all have done some very impressive research on this quest for RWB stats.

What information I can help with should be common knowledge at most Honda dealerships.

On any "NEW" production model AHM will not offer the first 3 manufactured to the public. Sometimes even more than that!
Example: 2003 CBR600rr Brand new unit. One kept for the permanet museum, in Japan, one kept for the "traveling" or "rotating" museum, and one just simply put away into a secret Honda warehouse. Actually there are many. - Never keep all your eggs in one basket type deal.
    2004 CBR1000rr same thing because it's a NEW model.
    2005 REPSOL EDITION same thing.
2004 Nicky Haden Signature Series RC51 same thing.
2004 NRX 1800 Rune. You get the idea.

There are several held for Press and Company officials, but these are not usually pre-production units, and are typically sold to pre-determined dealerships in their respected district. They almost always re-sale at least twice.
Ever wonder what they do with all the prototypes?

I have never personally seen a 000004 or lower VIN on any NEW model for that year. I have seen many very low #'s on a second or third year run though, even a couple of #1's. Example: GL1800, VTX1800, VT750, CRF50, XR100, etc. ect.

Because of the 25'th Anv. Designation I'm sure they retained a couple or more units for this or other pourposes.
Because of options, Non-US models and other factors, exactly witch ones are kept is unknown.

I was once told by a VERY reliable source that one unit of every color of every year was kept until the mid 90's. Too many "everyday units" to invest in anymore he said.

Now. Let's talk about the dark side.
Every year there are "things" that happen. Some expected. Some not.

    Shipping containers are dropped.
Transport trucks are crashed or damaged.
The seemingly easy transfer of crated units from one kind of transportation to another goes bad.
Dealers go broke and have to relinquish thier stock back to Honda to be re-distributed.
Some repo's go back to Honda and not the auction!!!

This kinda thing really screws up what the general public would consider the norm. And of course there are a ton of Dealers across the nation and world wide which have different ratings and sales history.

It's awesome to see this kind of passion about any type of motorcycle, but this is not just any type of motorcycle!!!!! It's a Honda V-4 powered masterpiece

IMHO about 1,000 sounds about right worldwide. :ninja:
