you know the kind I'm talkin' about, stretchy things with 3 hooks on each side... I got a spiffy fellow one, matched the bike, thought it'd be brilliant... better than carryin a backpack all the time anyway. I used it to hold a helmet on the rear of my seat, and when I finished my 45min trip I discovered that the damn "coated" hooks had scratched my rear panel all to hell... Haven't fixed the paint yet as I still use the net all the time... anybody else havin' this problem? If so, how'd ya get around it?

Yes, I've had that problem, but only small scratches so far. A bigger problem is the large size of the mesh openings. I'd like to find one with a smaller mesh opening (e.g., 1" square or so). Haven't been successful so far. Any suggestions?

I took the hooks off mine. Just hook the corner squares on the grab handles. I also put a couple of parachute cord loops on the front of it to hook on the Frankenstein bolts. Works great-nothing to scratch the paint.
