Hi I'm John. When I'm not busy managing ski chalets I love biking in the Alps. After a couple of happy years, mainly riding Suzukis, in May I persuaded a friend to swap bikes for a day and was astonished how much better his VFR was. So last month I traded in my old GSX and a heap cash for a bright red 2007 VFR800 VTec ABS with full touring luggage, and set off on a quick tour round Cornwall to get a feel for the new bike before heading off to the French Alps the long way round via the German autobahns - just to see how fast this thing is, without getting grief from the police. Wow this thing flies, even with all the touring gear full to overflowing, it felt incredibly stable and easily tops 130mph. In the mountains, the Battlax BT022s seem glued to the deck, giving great confidence that it really will go where you look. So far the bike seems pretty well sorted, so I don't expect to be undertaking any major mods, but I want to make a few minor tweaks to make the thing fit me better. I'm not tall - so I'd like to lower the bike or at least make the seat a bit thinner so I can get both feet to tough the ground. I would also like to extend the mirror arms and add a front fender extender to reduce the amount of road debris which ends up covering the bottom of the bike. So I'll be trawling through the threads to see how others have tackled these problems... Oh and if you're ever up in the Alps near Lake Geneva - PM me and I'll be happy to show you some amazing mountain roads.
I will just hop on the ferry and come one over there...Sometime... Ship in Storm ( M.V. Caribou ) video clip
I'll come over with Randy just not on the M.V. Caribou. I'd rather swim with my bike in tow then see it crashing from Bow to Stern and back as we plowed through the serf like in the video. BTW your VFR would look right at home here in BC. so if you ever find yourself here... Look me up.
