1986 500 fuel pump

does the 86 500 interceptor have a fuel pump on it or is it gravity fed like the guy I bought the bike from said? Im have idle issues?

 

the 86 VF500's did not come with a fuel pump so yes they are gravity feed..welcome to the brother-hood....post some pictures of your new found girl!

 

At one point in time it may have had a fuel pump, located on the left side, right next to the coolant resevoir. I took mine off because it was not working properly. Rerouted the line from tank to carb and it seems to run fine without the fuel pump.

The Fuel pump on any year 500 is optional FWIW. Honda just took it off deliberately in 86

I parted out my 500 long ago. That tank's worth 400 bucks in Good condition, mine had a small dent and went for something like 360.
