    Hey Everybody,
I'm new to VFR World, live in Sacramento area, I have a 2000 Yellow VFR that is under repair. I got cut off in traffic and the front end washed out on me. The front cowl is a loss and the left side is pretty scraped up but the frame and front end are fine. The question is who in the Sacramento area should I talk to about getting it repainted after I straighten out the cowling? And who is good if I need help with the bodywork?
Additionally has anyone bought one of those cowling sets from Hong Kong on Ebay? Are they any good? Because for the price of one side Cowling from Honda I can get a whole set. Great deal if its good quallity.
Well Thanks for your help and attention,
    Dave

Sorry to hear about the damage. Are you ok? Any injuries? Hope none. There are some parts on ebay but you have to be patient because they don't come by often. Try craigslist as well, you might be lucky enough. We have a couple of Sacramento members who might be helpful to you. Good luck and be safe.

For local "best places" hit a "bike night" or two and talk to some other riders. Not a clue on the aftermarket plastics.

Your's looks fixable. We just had a major bruhaha about paint. Yellows and reds are generally speaking, called fugitive colors. Bottom line is that they fade. Many body and fender shops do both plastic repair and painting. I think I'm seeing a complete paint job on your bike.

This is where you may find some difficulty. The car guys generally don't do bikes. This IMO is mostly out of ignorance. The bike guys overcharge because they know about the car guys and many of the bike guys used to be car guys and they have you over a barrel.

    The bike man

We used to have a guy that did repairs in Citrus Heights that was in the phone book as The Bike Man.I have not needed his services in a long time but you may want to look in the phone book to see if he is still around. He always charged me half of retail and his work was flawless.Good luck.

    Thanks

Thanks for the concern and the Info.
I'm alright now, had a bruised hip, shoulder and ribs. Everything but the shoulder is fine, and that's still a little tender, but mending.
The Helmet and the bike are what tick me off.

What's the deal with the paint ? The bike is yellow and will always be yellow. Am I going to be an outcast?

Yeah you and Drewl will be the outcast, at least until I can get mine Yeller
You might be better off to see how much Service honda wants for new ones so paint will match.

Your bike is almost ten years old. Yellow and red pigments are fugitive. They fade. A spot repair on a fender or a fairing panel can be painted and "blended in". Do not expect a dead on match. The pros get real close but the only way to get that "perfect" paint job is to repaint the entire bike or car.

    Thanks

Thanks for the paint advice. Not a problem I'm probably going to paint the whole bike.
