I have the 3g also and I was wondering if you do jailbreak it, etc., does that void the warranty? Also, if you do a hard reset and restore does that undo the changes? Does the info that you have a jailbroken phone get sent to big brother at apple? I dont really worry about the video thing but the lack of sms pics until at&t allows it aggravates me...

Iphone works on a differant type of technology. Verizon is cdma. t-mobile and att are gsm. So you can take a gsm and hack it to a differant gsm carrier, but its like am and fm. No iphone on verizon or sprint. rumour has it that iphone will leave att and move to verizon in 2010.
do not upgrade to 3.1 I unlock and j/b 3.0 3g's all day long. i will help but if you are savvy here are the keywords. upgrade to 3.0 ( NOT 3.1 ) turn off 3g in options jailbreak using redsn0w ( yes its a zer0 not an o ) afterjailbreak make sure 3g is still turned off download ultrasnow from cydia to find it you must add this source to your repo's repo666.ultrasn0w.com install it. reboot. enjoy

Thanks! I jailbroke it on Sunday. I did not unlock it. All went well. In previous jailbreak procedures, I did the aptbkp and then restore to get my cydia apps back. This time, I just: - upgraded to vanilla 3.0 - did the jailbreak - reinstalled cydia apps manually. I'm noticing that many cosmetic apps are not working. For example, I installed a new keyboard but it did not work. I guess winterboard needs to be updated.
yes some of the theme stuff needs to be updated. My superblack by killsign changed all my icons but left my text icon green. The reason is because the 3.0 update changed the way they worded some of the icons, etc etc. check cydia often for updates, most of my cosmetic problems are fixing themselves each day. If you are on a 3G do not use the program on cydia called activatemms2g. It will brick your phone, best case scenerio you will have to start from scratch, worse case you will have a very pretty paperwieght.
