Hi, new member here. Bob (zimbob) Zimmerman of Abbot, Maine. Old hand at sabmag.org but a bit dazzled by all the fancy stuff here.

    I have an '03 ST1300, a '98 VFR 800, two (2) '86 VF500F's and an '88 NX 250
    and I have a problem.

I've only had the 800 a month and have had to replace the fuel pump, or maybe I didn't have to.

The new one works erratically. Turn the key on hear the pump start the bike. Turn the key on don't hear the pump don't start the bike.

Seems like a short somewhere. Electrical guru at sabmag says it may be the dreaded ECU. Any suggestions.

    Thanks

Zimbob...the rain in Maine is a pain

    Hey Bob. Welcome!
I was wondering if you have enough bikes there? Seems to me FIVE bikes isn't enough.
    Sorry just a little jealous.
Hey how's that NX treating you? One of my favorite enduros and I was looking to buy one. Now if I could just find someone with oh say five bikes who needed to lighten the load...wink wink

if its like the older ones(mines an 86) the fuel pump will click briefly when the key is first turned on... then it doesnt do anything until the bike is running..... in other words the pressure has built up and it don't need to work.

hopefully that helps.......if not am I way off what your problem is...?
