LED trun and running lights on an First Gen

the ceramic ones WILL work .. BUT the metal cased with fins " look" nice and are ready to bolt to the frame ( to help with heat dissipation )

yeah I'm up in denver ... cap hill area ... great day to go ride today !!!! a " bunch" of my friends are out right now but I'm a bit worn out after a long weekend of work

 

Those look really nice where do you get them and what is the cost. Also how many do you need? Haven't made it to Denver yet I25 is a bit CRAZY riding alone. Went for a nice ride Sat. damn near all Mountain riding. lots of fun.

they don't have any 6ohm units in stock right now .. tho a 12ohm goes for 5 bucks

can anyone chime in on what size we would really need ?

 

here's an 8ohm one for 5 bucks

So the ohms or resistans is what makes the rate or speed of the flash? so the higher the ohms (like 12) will flash slower then say a 8 or 6 ohm?

 

I THINK you may be correct on that ...

but doing some more reading and some thinking ....

adding the resistors is going to increase the draw of power ( which if the reason for adding the LED's was to lower your total power draw using resistors is going to be counter-productive )

so that leaves the choice of splicing in an electronic flasher unit...which when you look at what honda wants for the stock one on my 86 ( 42 bucks!!! )... does not seem like such a bad idea ......

 

well alot to ponder were I like the idea of the electronic flasher one unit to do the entire job . I'm going to get some sleep I'll check back tomarrow p.m.

Why bother adding the resistors/Load equalizers at all?

The fast blinking of the signals is an eye catcher and will help those crazy people in their cars see you.

 

You know i've been thinking about that also but not sure if it will mess anything up. How long have you had yours installed? any glitch?

 

twowheelracer you would at least need the 12ohm ones idid not check if my ones get hot. i did not cut in to my turn signal wire`s from the bike i cut the wire from the light`s them self that way you keep the wiring harness in tack. but from every thing i read i need at least any where from an 8 ohm to a 15 ohm and you only need two but if it still flashes too fast add two more and dont forget it needs to be 25 watt min. sorry its taken me so long to get back to you, hope this helps unless you have already taken care of this post

Electronic flasher

The flasher I used on my 98' was just a generic flasher, just two wires your
choice blade or post type connection. $8.00

I've had them in for a few months now.

No issues...no glitches. Just bright, fast blinking turn signals. :wink:

 

So you just bought it off the shelf? Cool! Mine is a three fine inline blade flasher. I'll check the parts store.:thumbsup:

 

well all one of my front running lights burned out Friday night so I went ahead and just installed the L E Ds and will hope for the best. Thanks for all your input.

 

may need resistors to slow the flash down a bit... otherwise, it's nice... I just got aftermarket flush-mount blinkers, not even LED's (my borther's had problems with any LED light changes he's done)... Try online, sites like chaparral will have good quality stuff
