    Hey,
I am in the process of installing some helibars on my 03. I cannot seem to get the throttle sleeve off the stock bar. I have unscrewed the two phillips head screws on the underside and still no go. By looking at the helibar, it seems that there may be some kind of tab that is holding everything in place, but I just don't know. Any help you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I have already read the "see it before you try it" thread. It makes no mention of my problem.

Sorry if I am covering old ground with this, but I am extremely new to the VFR.

    Thanks

when installing my heli's i don't recall any problems removing the throttle sleeve.
dare i ask, but you did remove the bar end right?
and what holds the bar end on is an aluminum insert (goes inside the bars) with 2 tabs that click into holes in the bars. tough to explain but yes, there are tabs but no, they're not directly holding the sleeve in place. perhaps they're getting in the way of removing the sleeve?
i included a couple of pics of my old (stock) bars to give you a better idea of what's going on under there.
also, you're gonna need those inserts for the bar ends on your heli's.
should you get a throttlemeister, they include a cool little tool that just rips those aluminum inserts right out.

Got it. All it needed was a little coaxing with the rubbing alcohol.

These things are great. I can ride much longer without any wrist pain. However, all the weight that it takes off your wrists has to go somewhere. I have realized how uncomfortable the stock seat is. Next step, Sargent seat.

So you like the feel? How's it change your "attitude" on the bike? Is it noticeable how much more upright you are, or just takes some weight off the hands/wrists? I like the relaxed sporty seating position on the Viffer, don't want to lose it, but would like some of the weight off my hands...

I wouldn't say it greatly changes the attitude. It is definitely more comfortable though. I did notice that I am out in the wind a little more even with the taller windscreen.

Overall, I'd say go for it. Honestly, if you don't like them, you could probably sell them with no problems on ebay if you don't mind taking a small financial hit.
