I recently was cut off by car and went down about 30mph. The only damage I have is right side rash. The bike starts right up and everything seems to work. The only other thing I noticed was my chain is considerably loose. Is there any other concerns I should look for as far as Mechanical issues? I don't have any leaks.

It doesn't look that bad glad you are okay..:frown: I would adjust your chain not that crash should have cuased thaT but you noticed it.. I would just go over all bolts and fasteners as normal and keep riding..If not leaks and the clutch cover is not cracked no worries just cosmetic.. Now Then, can you give details about the car that cut you off?? would like to know if they offered to pay damage or did you stomp a mud hole in there ass and set their car on fire a speed away...

The swingarm could be bent. Check the bolts and such as mentioned and try to adjust the chain. If it does not seem normal, have it looked at.

I appreciate the advice, and am having my bike looked at by xcp motorsports in addison. They are going to replace the fairings and check for mechanical issues. I have only had this bike for 2 years but love it enough to pay the money to fix it. As far as the car who cut me off she never stopped. I have witnesses that seen her cut me off but they did not get her plate because they were worried I was in the middle of the road.

    Damn

Sorry about your bike. Glad your ok , try a straight edge from sprocket to sprocket to check alignment, not technical way to check but will give a good idea if swingarm is damaged. I would think it would take a bit more of a crash to damage it.

Well, if there was any front end collision, you obviously want to take a very close look where the front fork tube meets the bottom triple tree.

Just a question : is not there something as we have in European Insurances ? I mean that we have a special fund for "road victims" : it pays damages or injuries when it is not possible to identify the person that caused damages. Of course, if there are witnesses that can explain the way the accident occurred.
    Glad you ok !!!
    Regards and lamps !

Well things vary by state, here. In NC, everyone is required to carry uninsured/underinsured coverage. This theoretically covers for accidents caused by a hit-and-run. But there are several things in NC which make it difficult.

If it's a non-contact accident (no contact between the actual vehicles), then the person who caused it must be convicted of a traffic violation or they must admit guilt. If they say, "no, I didn't run anyone off the road," then your insurance leaves you out to dry.

If it is a hit-and-run in North Carolina, the guy must be caught or there must be an eye witness, or it didn't happen.

So the only way to receive anything from the mandated under/uninsured coverage in a hit-and-run where the guy gets away, is if it was BOTH a contact accident AND there was witness.

In either case, under/uninsured does not cover any damages to your motorcycle; it only covers medical, lost wages, pain/suffering. Optional (and highly expensive) comprehensible/theft would cover damages to the motorcycle (and only damages to the motorcycle) in any of the above cases. If the other person is convicted and/or admits guilt, then their insurance should cover damage to your motorcycle.

The only place the bike landed was on the right side which is not the side of the swingarm. I believe the chain may have stretched because of being in gear when it went down. I always check my bike prior to riding and chain was always tight.
