I had a quick search but couldn't find anything.

The fuel and temp gauges appear to read low on my bike. ie when fuel gauge shows empty I can only get 2 gallons in and when temp only half way up fan cuts in and does its stuff.

Is there a known issue with the gauges reading low or do they "all do this"??

    Cheers

    Tris

sounds like you may have a low tempurature fan switch in there.....as far as your fuel guage goes your sending unit in the tank may have a bad float ....... If your in the UK ..not sure, but are the sending units and guages (minus the speedo) the same gallons /liters, farenhiet/celcius?

just a thought maybe there was a mixup on a repair done to it....

    Just a thought.

The gauges only indicate max/min with no units - same as yours?

I was wondering if a dodgy earth could give this effect

Where does the temp gauge "normally" settle at - I know this is dependent on the ambient temp to some extent

    Hi,
my fuel guage is the ultimate pessimist. Due to the odd shape of the tank I think.
From full (brimming) I will need to go on reserve around 230km.
At that point I reset the trip and I have 70km before it runs dry. I tested this carrying a 1/2 litre bottle and it had the decency to run out 200m past a garage.
Convert that into UK gallons and you should be a good. Remember US gallons are an entirely made up measurement, along with outdated Whitworth spanner sizes.
Can't say about the temp gauge, mine sits in the middle and I've never heard the fan come on.
