My 1985 was way easy to carry my wife on the back.
Now I have my "new" 1990 vfr 750 and it is unsafe to carry her on the back.
Everytime I come up to a stop she is pushing into me so hard that I have to stiff arm on the handlebars so hard it hurts and I feel like i am bench pressing more then I am capable of, and then finally she can lean back off me a little bit as we come to a complete stop.
The bike is stock and so is the seat. I have future plans to buy the seat that was on it ( its desigined for a passenger)
She was ill today so maybe she was being a bad passenger, or maybe the bike angle is wrong for my size to carry her. Either way she wont be riding with me again it was miserable and scary.
Any body else try carrying a passenger on a gen 3 ?

You could try building up a static charge in the seat that will attract your wife's tush. A vigorous seat rubdown with Armour-All will probably do the trick.

Actually, I took my wife's girlfriend for a ride last weekend and had the same issue to a lesser degree. I'm not complaining though.... She's hot.

As a passenger when I felt this happening I would always push my butt into the seat and lean back just a little. Putting a little more pressure on the foot pegs can also help.

Easy fix. I had the same problem. Get her her own bike. Problem solved. She will never wanna ride bitch again. As you were, carry on, I'll be in the area all day.

You know I was joking about the Armour-All? Hard to tell if the joke was ignored because it was so bad, or if you're thinking "alright, I need some armour-all." Never can tell about kids and sarcasm these days..

Put Armor-All on the seat of my xr80 when I was a kid. Bike looked great. First time I hit the brakes, my nuts were on top of the triple clamp.

Kundalini? That you Neckutter? Congrats to you on scoring that 3rd gen.

I had that same problem when I would take girls out for a ride, until I found one who was doing something different. I asked and she told me that when she felt me start to brake she would simply take her hands off my waist and put them on the back of my gas tank and brace herself. She said that it felt natural and she thought that was what she was supposed to be doing. I couldn't argue with that. Now I ask all girls that ride with me to do that when I'm braking. Ask your wife to give it a try and see if it works for her. Her arms will still be around your body and close enough to you that she can quickly grab on to you if she needs to.

Yes it is me and thanks!

I think we will have to try it on a test ride, but certainly not on a ride commited to for an hour, cause it was hot and uncomfertable. LOL.
the TOECUTTER also has a seat that he har reupholstered esspeccially for that bike before he sold it to me. Cant afford it until the bike is paid for tho. It might make a differance if I acquire it also.

We have things over here in the UK called "Love Handles" - don't know if you have them in the US

Essentially they're a belt that the Rider wears that have a loop either size for the Pillion to hold onto

They work well for both accelaration and braking. I speak from personal experience haveing been on the back of my mates Busa before I got my 1st bike. He couldn't shake me off no matter how hard he tried

Most Americans have built-in, unremoveable love handles.
