my old battery for my 86 VFR was toast and when I boosted it to run my bike the headlights would not come on right away and maybe after 30 min would come back on. I just bought a new battery and it started right away but neither my low beam or high beam work. The front running lights for blinkers are on but no headlights. I know its not the bulb or fuse..any suggestions..

    Hey

Okay, there can be loose connection, bad relay and key ignition. If you try when you start the bike to jack the key to the side.

    Best regards

You might want to make sure your starter switch is coming all the way out when you let your thumb off. When I bought mine the switch was a little sticky and was just enough to keep the headlight from coming on even though it was disengaging the starter. Hope that's it. Good luck.

also check the clips that hold the fuse they might need cleaning even if the fuse is ok it may not be getting a good connection. dmvfr where in canada are you.

Try cleaning the contacts in the left bar switch, they corrode over time.
