Did a service on my 85 750 ( changed coolant, oil, set valves, cleaned carbs) now it takes forever to warm up. And while I'm riding the temp barely gets above the thin part of the line on the gauge. If I let it sit and idle it will s-l-o-w-l-y creep up to the halfway mark. The only thing that I can think of is that either the thermostat is stuck or the new coolant really awesome .
The big problem is that the bike dosnt run well cold and I'm afraid of taking out the cams and bearings if the oil cant heat up and flow properly.

you can check for flow. While cold the coolant shouldnt be circulating. If it is, then your t-stat is stuck open. Take off radiator cap while dead cold and start the bike ( in neutral on the center stand ) and see if the water is flowing. A few other things that could be worth looking into - Is it the right coolant / mixture for your bike? if not it could give you a faulty reading - did you change the coolant because you had a previus overheating problem? If so maybe you have damaged your temp sensor and now you are getting a fualty reading. Overheating vehicles of any type are notorious for having faulty readings after the initial problem is fixed, cause the sendor goes bad.
anywys just a few quick ideas on my lunchbreak. good luck
