Can I ask you a basic question?
1.Is painting more difficult then adjusting your own VFR valves?
I suspect valve adjustment is more difficult and no margin of errors. If someone can rebuild their breaks,do maintenance then how much more difficult painting a bike is?
You make it sound like rocket science!!It is not!

Whatever man. I haven't personally attacked anyone. (other than calling that one guy old) But I see some of you have decided to stereotype me based solely on my age, I don't need to defend myself anymore and I'm not going to. You think I'm stupid and you think I don't know what I'm talking about. Fine. I get the picture. You can stop criticizing me now.

I believe that this is where the problem is arising. Some of us are happy with the $500.00 paint job. Some of us are also willing to pick up a sprayer, get down and dirty, and try our own hands at achieving a "$500.00 paint job." Some of us will even covet the occasional run or drip, as reminders of our own labor and achievement. For us, it's kind of annoying to be discouraged by the pros, who appear to have so much knowledge and experience yet offer little help or encouragement. Even when we DIY'ers are trying to help each other, what happens? The pros butt in and offer little more than insults. Even worse are the sideline quarterbacks who butt in on behalf of the pros to add their own insults.

Will some of us end up at the shop, asking a professional to fix our horrendous paint job? Yes. Will some of us end up so good at painting that we could go pro, ourselves? Yes. I'm sure that's where many of the pros started out, themselves. DIY'ers are the type that doesn't need bloody hand-holding guarantees of perfection. They take risks. As long as they are doing it with their own hands, they're always happy with the outcome. Even when they screw up.`

    Hey bunghole:

Normally shit doesn't get this out of hand on VFRW with such questions as yours. But the silver lining is you did recieve your answer:biggrin:

Looks like if you do it yourself: between 200-500 bucks.

If a shop does it: Between 500-2000 dollars.

Best thing to do from here is go around to your local shops and chat them up on what you want to do. Becasue its obvious we are, at the moment anyway, very little help to anyone. Appears reading comprehension has gone the way of the dinosaur with some of our members.

And I use synthetic oil cuz it's best:biggrin:

    Simple answer? Not.

Rotella Synthetic is the best compromise of cost/benefit for me. I came to that conclusion after doing a lot of research. But other people will deride it because they went to all the trouble of noticing that it doesn't say "motorcycle" on the bottle. :)

Sky, why won't you drive a Honda car!?!

Haha. Are you expecting Larry and Curly to have your back on that juvenile comment? Everyone else is bored with you trollbaiting the newbie. So I hope you find this really amusing, because you're the only one amused.

Yes, them and Moe. I understood that Skypuppy was twenty. In most states, one is no longer a juvenile past seventeen. OMG, do you think he might be Canadian or something even worse?

Please tell me why you're now looking up Skydog's member information to validate your attacks. And please tell us how the legal age of adulthood in Skydog's country has anything to do with your having made a juvenile comment!? If you need me to speak in simpler words and shorter sentences, then just say so. I can't tell which bus you ride from the other side of the internet.
Well, at least you have your own back.

I've driven Chevy's all my life. I don't think Honda's are bad cars. I'd just rather drive an American car.

The assumption here being I was doing some wrong by accessing freely given and hence public information, when in fact if one reads the entire thread, one would find someone else did the dirty deed. I looked yours up and this is what I found:

klee27x has not made any friends yet Befriend klee27x

I will do my very best to have the aforementioned tres enfants terrible to grant you this one wish.

This being said, I have a solution for your paint problems. Stated up near the top, Skydog states he will paint a bike for $300.00. Such a deal!

Since the attempts to create any guilt trips have become toast, maybe you and ol Sky can come up with something really creative or if not, you could try some mutual leg humping to relieve tension.

Please stop this ,lets call a cease-fire. Dont talk about paint, rattle cans and how
good or bad of a painter that you /they are. Everyone has had their fun so if you have nothing else to do but verbally slaughter a fellow VFR'er then why dont you go for a ride and thank God that you have the good fortune to own a bike and the health to ride one. eddie
