I'm seeking to deal with some scratches in my headlights and know what I need to use to try and take care of it, however I am unsure of the composition of the lens covers and hope someone can tell me a little bit about the construction of them.

Are the lens covers just clear polycarbonate or are they polycarbonate with a film cover?

Humm, don't know the exact answer but I've always imagined using the same step process as one would use to clean up the windscreen. If it does have a film of some sort on it I can't imagine the film holding up during any kind of a repair job.

    Keep us informed...

they are plastic with no film no clue as to exact type but that megiures head light polish w/ polishing ball for drill works ok to gloss them up a bit.

Thanks, thats exactly the kind of information I was needing to proceed with restoring them. I'm still debating on using the Mother's polishing ball or old fashioned elbow grease with the polishing compounds, but I'll figure that out on a rainy day.

I just used a buffer with some light duty compound. Worked great.
