I may as well choke on it and get it over with. Dropped the VFR today.Would have rather gargled hot piss but dropped the bike instead.Stopped to talk to Neckutter on a steep incline and shortly after walking away the damn thing started to roll ........ALMOST SAVED IT........chucked myself under it but wheight moving was just too much and down like a lump of shit we both went.ANGER.Stuck in gear ....not clear on how I f'd it up.Friggin rookie shit. Damage was minor, snapped mirror off when grabbing for it, the side that did not go down???? Broke left peg holder clean which was a treat , had another hundred miles to get home, and little scratches.New bar ends on the way and all else I will have to purchase in a hurry to make ride to Drewl's and Sixweed's next weekend. Did I mention ANGER?Anyway lower is for sale as well as tail section, scratches are minor but I must fix it or loose my mind......whats left.Screwed my leg up pretty bad and it hurts like hell, will be more pissed if I get the bike fixed and cant go next weekend because my leg is jacked up.ANGER!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

    Gravity sucks

After seeing that bike its hard to think it has a boo boo, but it will look good as new ASAP. The first scratch is always the biggest.

I was there. That bike would be toast if you didnt save it. I still dont know how you saw/heard it going down. Your leg will heal, that bike could have been at the bottom of the canyon. Sorry you are hurt, but damn dude you are a ninja. You saved that bike.

Bubba Zanetti has it on good authority that you shouldn't care.

Have you ever seen the left side of the 97? When I bought it I had to do some plastic welding/ glueing.

You can't take the name "toecutter' then care THAT much how your bikes looks. How it runs and handles: YES! How it looks: NO!

    Sorry about the leg though.

not to be a perfectionist...but you should make sure you get the right side when you fix it......(your right peg is broken...not the left)

I flopped mine over walking back out of a parking space. Was absolutely heartbroken, as I tried like hell to keep it up. fortunately the only thing that was damaged was the red stripe on the nose section and a nearly invisible bit of rash on the fairing. Nail polished the fairing and replaced the red stripe (was an $18 sticker) and it's all good now. I don't even notice the fairing anymore

that sucks!!! dropped mine last friday in the garage while i was trying to put her on the centerstand- tried my best and was successful laying it down very slowly but was too heavy for me i needed help putting it back up again! very minor scratches on the mirror, bar end, lower fairing footpeg and billet . chase harper saddle bags helped cushion impact and minimize rear fender damage/scratches. pics to follow.

TOE sooo sorry man. Been there and done that so don't feel bad. The RWB's recover better than the rest of those one color bikes... :bolt:

Never would have expected that to happen... strange...

You gotta get yourself a set of OEM Hardbag Sliders, they work awesome.

    edit::::

The red stripe and and the honda are decals, can't tell for sure but will replacing them make the scratches go away?

Hope you get better soon buddy.

    Sorry Dude,
Know how you feel, rode mine backwards down a twelve foot bank last November. I remember there was a second there, when I said to my self, " Hey, this is gonna work out...."
The hard bag slider thing does work. I speak from experience. Two more words-

I feel your pain. A couple of years ago I stopped my (then) new BMW K1200GT on a decline, and in my haste to get off the bike for a quick break, I didn't realize that it was in neutral rather than in first gear Well, right after I dismounted and took a step away, I heard behind me the sickening sounds as the bike rolled forward off of its side-stand and then flopped onto its left side. (Luckily, I was riding with another motorcyclist, and together we managed to lift that pig up.)

This hard-earned lesson taught me to always check to make sure that a bike is in gear, and then I gently roll it a bit to make sure that I feel the bike fully stopping against first gear (as well as making sure that the kickstand is fully extended and locked), and that the bike feels solidly planted and stationary before I dismount. Even then, I won't let go and turn my back as I dismount until I'm assured that the rear tire is locked-up and the bike isn't going to roll a bit more.

Shit happens. Welcome to the club. Another solution I've learned is to simply try to avoid parking on inclines/declines as much as possible.

If you are gonna replace the red stickers they will cover scratches for the most part, but I got a new razor blade (not the kind you shave with or a box knife but just the rectangle shaped blade) and very carefully trimmed off any of the sticky out scrape pieces, then once smooth put the new stripe/sticker on. Lining up the sticker is a bit of a pain but if you sit on a low stool and take your time it will be fine. Good luck.
