New guy here....hoping to mine the collective intelligence

I've got the rear shock off my '94 VFR on the bench and it needs help. The wrenches at the local Honda shop looked at it(before I had removed it) and said its blown.
Are these shocks re-buildable? The shock is a Showa

I have an identical replacement, bought off fleabay, that appears to be similarly afflicted. Maybe can be used for parts....

    advice appreciated
