I just recently got an 08 VFR and I have been enjoying the hell out of it for several months now, (about 3,000 miles) anyhow, There is one thing on the gauge cluster that has escaped me, there is what looks like a shift light to the lower right of the tach, and this does not seem to be the case since I accidentally pegged it in second gear the other day. Is it a photocell for the guages at night or what? Does anybody know for sure, I don't think I saw anything about it in the manual.

Maybe that is for the H.I.S.S. security system? The U.S. spec bikes do not get that option.

Yeah it's something to do with non-U.S. Vif's - and I've noticed this too on about all of the VFR's with the H.I.S.S. on the Ignition Keyway. I guess H.I.S.S. gives VFR's a chipped key, and if it's anything like a passenger car, it means the ignition system is immobilized unless a particular matching key is present. I for one am greatful that I've got an alarm and not one of these keys - I'd hate to lose it and have to have a Honda Dealership Reprogram it.

Yes its the HISS immobilizer light which flashes when the ignition is off.

I thought they all had it.

U.S. models do not come with this option. We always seem to get the bottom of the barrel when it comes to features, colors, or styles whether it is a cell phone, a car, or a motorcycle.
