87 vfr700 seat problem

    i cant figure out how to pull the seat off of my bike in dont have a key to pop it up or a pull cord to pop it up need help

    I think this dude is AWAL. Why on God's green earth would you latch a seat, that has no release mechanism?

    If I understand this correctly, hes got no key for the lock, and it wouldnt matter anyway cause the pull cable is also missing. IF you can snake up a metal coat hanger wire, with a small hook on the end, you (MIGHT) be able to grab the cable hole, and pull against the spring force to release the levers. I would also find a locksmith, and also start taking off the rear tire, inner fender, tail, (If you can get to the bolts enough).

    If you look up under the lock mechanism there's a steel cable if you get a pair of vice grips ytou can rgab the cable and pull on it and unlatch the seat. I'd recommend removing the helmet lock mechanism from the grab rails. You;;l need to figure out a way to better secure the cable because I think it'll probably fall out eventually without both sides being latched into each side.
