I've searched. I get the acceptable slack parameter of 1" to 1 3/8" when finger pushing from where these threads explain where to push from but when doing so, my chain hits the bottom of the swingarm and I can not tell if there is a mile of slack in it or not. Please help. Gunzer
You are doing it right, I haven't seen an exact point where you can say it's a certain measurement of chain movement. Two other things I look at are space between the bottom of the chain and the center stand (in the up position), and where the chain touches the guide on the top of the swingarm. Action
I know that the book say's check while on the centerstand...... But if you check while on the side stand..... you can push up on the bottom run of the chain, and the chain should just touch the swing-arm protecter..... then check again doing the same thing while sitting on the bike, and the chain should feel almost the same but a little tighter......... but before you do any of it, get the tightest part of the chain at the middle. Then do the above check points...... Monk
