Summer is here and I often get stuck in traffic in the city in hot day and to my distress the engine temp keeps going higher to 217-225 before fan starts. That really stresses me out.I imagine something going wrong while stuck in traffic etc.I thought simple switch for the fan would be great like turning it on before the engine hits 200F
My bike is 1998.Has anyone done so?If yes what kind of switch to get and some tips in installation.
    Thank you.
I think lot of people can benefit since lot of us ride to and from work and that often results clogged up traffic.

on the 6th gen the thermostatic switch closes and electrically supplies a ground for the Fan motor.
Fan switch went bad on mine and the manual said you could test the switch by removing the wire from thermostatic switch and grounding it to the frame. If the fan comes on then the switch is not closing. My dealer ordered me a new switch. and i replaced it. so you could theoretically just add a wire to the terminal on the thermostatic switch and mount a switch somewhere on you bike conect the other side of the switch to a ground point. Voila' closing this switch will make your fan start running. At least on a 6th gen.

All gens fans are the same, and the installation is simple and has been covered here lots of times.....

What's difficult is deciding WHERE to place the switch !
