I can't ride every day, though I would if I could. Unfortunately, I only have a seven minute commute, so it takes me longer to gear up than to ride to work. Just not worth it.

But I ride every weekend, all year long. I get up early and hit the road by 6:00 AM or so. I ride for anywhere from 2 to 6 hours or so. When I get back home, half the day is still ahead of me.

I try to do this on both Saturday and Sunday. On the days I can't ride, I spend a lot of time thinking about riding. Honestly, when I hit the road, I truly want to keep going until I drop. I just love it that much.

Coming up to 4 weeks with only a few work commutes and no good country ride. The reports were still of mixed and heavy weather but decided I really needed some VFR Therapy so suited up in my Gortex Jacket, Goves and Boots with Leather pants and rain over pants headed out on a country ride South towards very dark and grey skies.

The pretext used to escape the house was really quite weak with me having to drop off a bunch of ROME series 1 DVD's to a mates place down the coast but I sure felt good once out of city.

The ride out wasn't bad light traffic and only a light drizzle so bypassed the Freeway on my ride South preferring the old Highway with its limited but still fun little twisty sections. Once I hit the worsening weather drifting Bermuda Triangle like into a shear wall of Fog across landscape heading up the mountain range, it looked thick as I hit it but luckily found wasn't a pea souper after entering it, strange how I've always loved riding in fog as it somehow makes the bike and riding seem more real ?

The drizzly mist and showers turned to pelting rain once over the range but was happy to just drop the DVD's to my mate have a quick coffee with chin wag and slash before heading home back up the foggy rainy mountain range again on the Old road North.

170 mile round trip later my gear kept me perfectly warm and dry and it's amazing how even a senceless ride in rubbish conditions clears the mind with the only mild regret the thought of 2 hours required to clean the VFR back to pristine again, mind that ended being mildly therapeutic and completed a good days out on the bike.

Very good question, for me it's been like if I'm not on it like every other day at the least I'm going through withdrawals, but of late I've been very happily busy, got a new whirly bird so flying around has been filling the need. funny thing thou I ride to and from the airport, traffic a B*&^ch so I don't get out like I use too, and I'm just now starting to miss that part of it a bit, but since I've been flying low, it hasn't got the better of me. YET!

Like Drewl, I too am a commuter and an eight hour shift often causes me the need to turn my 20 mile commute into a 120 mile adventure...dinner is over-rated anyway!

I Try to ride every day through snow and sleet and wind and hail and bugs and sandstorms and heat and humidity and dust and roadkill and all kinds of shit from sea to shining sea, but it doesn't always work out like that. Same darn thing with my air guitar.

I'm with Drewl on this one. I rode to work today and was lucky enough that I got to go out for lunch so my day was broken up with a nice 30 minute ride. Only another hour or so before I get to ride my sweetie home.

I am fortunate enough to live in an area where I have lots of backroads to ride and where the weather is cooperative for most of the year. So, when the bug bites me I just take an hour or two for myself and go have some fun.

Riding the Red Devil up to Mt. Magazine State Park tomorrow afternoon, to spend the weekend at a family get-together. You can bet there's a 200 mile 1/2 day-ride in there somewhere.... Weather is forecast to be sunny and in the high 80's. Life is Good.

    Regards,
    H.C.D.

If I don't get to ride at least once a week, then I become very grouchy . :croc:

I start having withdrawals after 5 days of not getting to ride. This summer, I am coaching baseball, and our games are scheduled on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The Saturday games have really posed a problem because they are scheduled where it prevents me from heading out with the group early on Saturday mornings. What really pours salt on my wound is when not enough of my players show up for Saturday games - in turn causing us to forfeit! :hangme:

I ride to work every day and most weekend days. If there is some reason I can't or don't ride for more than a couple days, I start getting stir crazy and even a little depressed. The first time that happened to me, I couldn't figure out why I was in a "funk". When I got on my bike, it all went away, so now I try not to go more than a day or two without riding.

I am working on 9 month's now, not having ridden my VFR, RVF or 954. The last time I rode my RVF was at Laguna Seca, and !that! is pouring salt on the wound. But the RVF and the VFR are both waiting for me to get back and I cannot wait. It's horrible reading these forums and not being able to ride!

Going on two weeks now. Somehow I toasted the battery. I looked all over for an aftermarket battery here, no one makes one. After wasting a week I finally broke down and ordered one from Honda. It will be here in a few more days. $110 for that little thing.

Interesting stats so far, no-one can last 3 weeks without riding before missing their VFR.
