I have returned to the fold. Just bought a 2000 800Fi with 12K mi. after selling my 1992 750 a few years back. The 2000 looks and sounds great but are there any problems with this generation I should look out for such as the RR? Thanks. Man I missed that cam gear sound!

Welcome back Pat. Glad to have another member, especially one who is returning to a vfr. I think the r/r problem was resolved, but of course there will always be issues. I have heard of a recall for the subframe, but I don't remember what year that was for. Any dealer should be able to tell you.

Thanks Vinny. That's a cherry '93 you have! The r/r has big cooling fins so maybe it will hang in there. I'll check with the local Honda dealer for any recalls on the 2000. -Pat

Hey Jason. Yeah, had to get back on this site to remember that Canadian vendor that has good VFR prices, like the Y2K mirrors. Ah hah! Dynamo Humm, yeah, that's it. Already got the mirrors, DP pads, K&N oil and air filters headed this way. Found a shop manual on eBay for $20. Colorite touch up pens ordered. A little TLC then ride the rubber off it! Can't wait. See you Tuesday. -Pat

I haven't hear the new ones yet, but I have heard a few people say that. I guess I'd have to hear them side by side to see what you guys are talking about. Welcome to the board...

I bought a 2000 with zero miles on it. I have 42K now. I have not had a single problem - except for going through bulbs when I run on high beam during the day. Which I have done without problem on other bikes, but this one seems to go through bulbs.

I have been running the K&N filter almost the whole time. Expect for a double bubble windscreen, the bike is stock.

I have done two valve inspections and only needed one adjustment. I needed only one shim. The next valve adjustment is going to be done this winter.
