1984 VFR750F second Gen, just last year 149mph

And it had a bit more to go but at that speed the chin strap on my helmet was pulling so hard that the face chin section on the helmet was just below my eyes and chocking me. Also remember, one hole or rock and you are a rocket. I have had an FJ1100 to 174 once.

    Scary!!

Both had exhaust and carb kits and the FJ had a enclosed fairing system. then at 60mph is seems like you could just jump off and not even get hurt.

I have had my RWB to about 130 indicated and 117 with hard bags on, and there was plenty left to go. I know I cross the VTEC mark at about 106 mph in 6th gear, but after that I don't pay a lot of attention to the tach for obvious reasons. There was plenty of gear and engine left by the time I backed out of it.

On a side note, the instability in the wind with the hard bags on makes it distinctly harder to ride at high speed than without the bags. And, of course, we all know speedo error is significant in most motorcycles, so your GPS results will vary.

06 VFR, my weight: 205: Wearing Jacket and Mesh pants. with Side cases on and 10 Pounds plus of weight in cases. Level to varied terrain Utah desert near Lake Powell, 84 degrees. GPS Speed: 138 sustained over a couple min. Speedo indicating speeds up in the upper 140s to 150s+ but GPS never above 138 Max speed.

I account for my weight, clothing and side cases offering wind resistance. That was done on multiple tries and never faster than that. Always smooth and dead steady even at that speed. Fun with nothing around to worry about much.

After riding my ex500 for a number of years I took a test ride on a 01 VFR. First on ramp to a freeway I let her rip. Looked down expecting to see about 90 and saw 115 indicated (the bike does at least have a speedo healer).

I couldn't stop smiling & now own that bike.

I think and equally important question is how to make a Gen V (my 2000) go faster than 150!

I've often found in life that there will always be people who will tell me where to go! :tongue1:

Normally it's not to A&A Performance! :target:

Thanks for the recommendation!!! I will check them out.

BTW, I get up to 110 all the time on Interstate 75/275/4 in the Tampa Bay area. You guys would love it here as we have FOUR long bridges creating all sorts of opportunities. There is the Bayside Bridge (almost 3 miles), The Howard Franklin Bridge (7 miles), the Gandy Bridge (about 5 miles) and the Sunshine Skyway Bridge (10.9 miles). My VFR seems to like 110 a bit too much, and it's very comfortable there.

My "girl" and I are still getting aquainted, so I've not pushed her too hard n' fast just yet. I'm doing oil, brakes and coolant today, and am taking a trip to Naples on Monday...the Sunshine Skyway will be interesting

I used to have an old FZ600 "back in the day", and 115 was a bit disconcerting...oh my...that thing!

I've not been on it on a bike, but I've been down that way :) It's really beautiful. I like the cruise on Gulf Blvd from Clearwater Beach to Fort Desoto. It's about 50 Miles or so and really nice. I only go about 30 to 35 the whole way. There's another really nice cruise and that's through Longboat Key and Saint Armand's Circle in Sarasota. In the springtime the water is as blue as sapphires!

I've been wanting to get this service work done first before I go anywhere more than from my home area. I know this bike is solid, but I'm wanting to do this stuff myself so I know it had been done. So today I'll be doing the following:

Shell Synthetic Rotella 5/40 w/ Supertech ST7317 Filter (yes, I found it!)
    Engine Ice Coolant
    New Galfer Brakes

I just put on a new HK X-Ring Chain and Philips Crystal Vision Lamps last week. I know I should have done the sprockets, but forgot! Soon for them and new rubber too. ACK!

(sorry for getting off topic some - I'll bring it back)

So with all of this service, I will get out and see how she feels at 125!

At that speed I don't know if I'll even see the Seven Mile Bridge down there! BTW, I think that's where they did the filming for The Sixth Day with Arnold and Jamie. Much FUN!

Here's to Keepin' the Florida Connect Hott! - Buy OJ and invite your friends to come and spend money here...I like no state income tax!

    Peace

After reading most of this thread I've got to say that I'm envious of you who live where you have wide open spaces. I'm in Maine and I've had my '04 to about 110 on our toll highway. It' s not the speed per se that holds me back from pushing more, it's #1 the lack of long, flat straights in Maine. The state is mostly hilly; the Maine turnpike is fairly level but heavily patrolled.

Issue #2 is that we are the most heavily-forested state in the nation and I must confess that with forest often just feet from the road edge I am more frightened of the freaking critters than I am of the speed itself. Having virtually no visibilty past either side of the pavement really makes you think twice; you have almost 0 response time available. Seems like every other day someone here is getting popped by a deer (remember MC safety expert Larry Grodsky?), moose or other smaller mammal.

To paraphrase what Grodsky often used to say (before he met his own demise by a deer strike in 2006), "The one danger you have virtually no control over on a bike is wildlife; a completely random and unpredictable variable..."
