    Hi from a nOOb,

So I'm looking to buy a new bike. Moving up from an older Yamaha Virago. I want something Sport-touring, fun to ride through the bends, and yet a couple days a week I'll be commuting 80miles highway one way so it needs to be fairly comfortable. Everything I've read about the VFR800 seems to fit that bill, though I haven't had a chance to ride one.

I've seen a couple out there used for less, but my local dealership has a 'brand new' 2007 VFR800 (no ABS) with full warranty for $8,059. Is this a good deal? Or should I keep looking?

    Thanx in advance.

    Do it.

Is it a Candy Red one, or a RWB?

Wow you all are men of few, yet poignant, words :)

    It's the candy red one.

I'm currently in southern Minnesota/twin cities.
I'm a US expat, born and raised in Austria, went to school in upstate NY, and now find myself out here...in Harley country, but failing to conform.

I've been riding for a couple years, but this would be my first 'real bike', i.e. a bike I'm buying because I really want it, not just a good deal to learn on, and practice my skills, etc. I'm psyched to get a bike that I can bond with over many miles and maybe even keep for a few years.

Maybe I'll stop by there after work then...

Sounds like a decent deal. Ask if they'll throw in some gear, can't hurt.

Not that I see a lot out there, but there seem to be proportionally more new candy apple red 2007 no abs models out there new for sale than newer or slightly older ones. I.e. 2 in MN, and 2 in NJ, when taking a quick look out there. Is there a reason for this, or just because?

If that is OTD (Out the door) price then is good. Remember you can get a 06 with hardcase for around $6500 with low mileages (Just break in).

Good luck with your purchase and keep us posted.

Hey! Another VFR rider in Minnesota! Great!

Look for me, I'm on a blue 02. There are more Candy apple red models because those are what is left. The RWB's outsold the other color by a landslide. Still a great deal though new and I'd pull the trigger on it if I wasn't eyeballing the new R1.

PM me sometime if you want to take her out and burn up some twisties.

That's an OK price, but if as you've said you'll be using the motorcycle primarily for sport-touring and commuting, do you really want a new 2007 VFR that lacks ABS plus linked brakes?

ABS and linked brakes are essential as far as I'm concerned, but YMMV.
