Having just made a 250km continuous journey on my 2005 VFR 800 I have noticed a considerable amount of oil on the lower lip fairing directly beneath the gear shift. Gear change seemed normal throughout the journey. Is there a known fault
    Thank You

Might it be accumulated filth coming off the chain? If the chain has been lubed with oil, it would drip right where you're describing.

If it is a leak from the motor, you need to discover exactly where it's leaking from.

    KC-10 FE out...

I second the chain oil theory. I used gear oil once, per the manual, and when stopped in a parking lot I noticed a small pool of black oil appearing to come from the gearbox. My first thought was "gearbox leak!". Cleaning the mess and switching to Bel Ray lube fixed the problem. An '05 shouldn't have such issues.
