    Hoblick,

Good info on the Detailing but I have a few questions and things to add.
We will start with the things to add:

1: Be very careful using Degreaser or an APC for that matter on or near painted surfaces.
I am sure that most people don't know the correct Dillution Ratios for APC for these types of applications and it can vary greatly with differnt product lines. I would not use full strength degreaser anywhere on a bike unless you are comfortable with the product and its abilities.

2: Just to reiterate what you were saying about Polish (Start out with the least agressive Polish/ Pad combo) as agressive polishes can mar/ swirl your paint.

3: Product lines- I am very partial to Poorboys World products as I know Steve the Owner of the company and have used all of his products. My second favorite product line would be Menzerna followed by Meguiars Detail Line.

4: When using a Sealant Poorboys EX-P, EX :Menzerna FMJ, or other it is a good idea to allow it to Cure for at least 6 hours before you apply your Wax/ LSP and yes Layer your Wax it will keep the paint protected.

5: After all of this time and money is spent detailing your ride, it is much easier to maintain. Most times you will be ably to use a quick detail spray to maintain the finish.

6: Microfiber products should be tagless and have a soft border.

7: It is very important to Lube while you Clay as most Poly-Elastic Clay bars are abrasive.

Okay I am sure I can think of more but we will move on to the Questions

Do you have a Rotary or Just a D/A

How do you like the Zaino stuff? I have heard mixed Reviews

Are you using the Meguiars Detailing line Green APC?

Are you on any detailing forums?

    Jason

    Hoblick, absolutely fabulous results!!!

I set up the new machines at a Honda dealer, and have actually gotten in trouble for "taking too long" with the cleaning part. I guess salesmen don't understand that just because the bike is out of the crate, assembled and running, it is not yet ready for sale. "Can you just spray it off real quick?" is what I'm usually asked, even though they know our water is little more than damp sand.

By the way, Honda's recommended method of drying ATV's, from a Wrench article not too long ago, is... compressed air.

    great add ons there..

zaino is ehh... its good stuff if you know how to use it.
it really takes a while to cure, even with the accelerator. and you have to work with very thin coats.
the outcome is really astonishing. especially if your going to "conceal" swirls instead of correct anything before sealing.
its a great product to conceal swirls.
and its durabilty and water shedding is damn near the best i have seen.

but i have gotten better depth and clarity with other combinations, and im very fond of the optimum products now a days.

i use Megs APC + currently, but am thinking about trying the optimum power clean

    Hoblick,

Well I can't beat that offer but I'm sure it wouldn't be much of a layover to stop in the Kansas City area for a day or two. Maybe you should just start a U.S. tour and go state to state for a while.

Anyway, you do incredible work and I apreciate the thread. I'm not sure I have the patience to do that kind of detail work anymore.... but I may have to give it a shot since you outlined everything so well. Thanks.

wow, dude, I want to have your babies. I printed out your proceedure, and am in process of making a pretty'd up version for my binder at home. I also plan to see about purchasing the items you suggested. I have a 300m, which looks horrid. Perhaps you can offer some suggestions?

    pics would help.
but get yourself a buffer if you dont have one.. i recommend this setup.. its a great starter kit. it has everything you need to get started.. and right now they are throwing in 2 extra CCS orange pads with the deal.
plus you get the pad cleaner and conditioner a well.. hell its all there to get you started
Porter Cable 7424 & Foam Pad Kit - Car Buffer

that is the exact PC that i use, and i use the same pads as well. those pads are probably my favorite.
