Who is staying in Niagra Falls Friday night. We need to pick a meeting point for Saturday morning to begin our ride. If anyone is staying friday night that would be an ideal place to meet, eat and go.

    Possibly one more Rochester guy

I'll be in buffalo friday night. Just not sure if I'll be at the hotel or not. I have friends in the city who usually let me stay the night. Just not sure if I want to go out for the night and try riding back downtown.

Anyone have a room they want to split?

I would love to pick up with you guys/gals on the Canadian side when you come over. As some of you know, I lost my Black Beauty last weekend due to a car hitting me from behind while stopped at a light. That's the bad news. The good news is I replaced my 1998 Black VFR with a 1999 Yellow VFR on Sunday! (I'll have to change my Avatar). I'm ready to ride again and would love to be a part of this one!

Let me know when and where you will be crossing to the Canadian side (Fort Erie I expect). If you planned for a break once across, some of the Canadian riders (like me) could join you for the riding on the Canadian side.

Please post or PM me. I want to ride with you!

I think there are a couple of us staying at the Holiday Inn posted above on Friday night. Does that sound like a good meeting place on Saturday morning? The list is getting bigger, Hopefully we have a good turnout. Looking forward to a good weekend of riding.

I still have to say I see no real plan on what to see and which roads to ride.

FYI NF from Pa is close to a two hour ride. If you think you can do it I know I can. It would be a close to 500 mile day if we do Pa though from NF. If we stay close to NF in NY and then to Ca we still need a plan on what to see or which roads. I can take ya on a sight seeing ride no problem around NF I'm just not that good on linking the few nice roads in the NF area together if you want to carve some good turns. If we beside do to Pa I can link good roads and sights.

OK, I think I have it figured out!

Three riders are coming in from out of state. They are travelling all day Friday, and leaving for home on Sunday. That leaves only Saturday for riding and seeing the sights. They want to start riding at 9AM, and stop by 6-7PM. That makes it impossible to ride to PA, and see the Niagara area. They are riding to NF so I am assuming they want to see NF, N on the Lake, etc..

What we are looking for then is a local to show these riders N on the Lake, Effingham, the tunnel, Ridge Rd., one of the locks, etc.... on Saturday. Sadly, I can't.

If anyone wants to ride to the better roads down in PA on the Sunday while the out of state group rides home, or name a date for June, PM me and we'll put it together.

Now, did I get that right????????

Hope this isent just more random info. This is an email from a contact in canada.

tho yall are doin canada first these may be some good ideas. i got my birth cert. but think my water pump is bad. sucks huh.

    anyway.
You have two days. I would recommend you spend the first day in western ny riding our local roads with the end of day ending up in the falls on the USA side. Spend the afternoon at the falls in three sisters island area which has walk downs to the falls and direct viscinity. Very nice for the uninitiated and boring for the locals. (LOL can you imagine?) You could even ride the parkway and in the process see the powerplant and the niagara USA side gorge and the lovely view of Toronto that will fill your senses as you look on like Columbus at the world that presents you on the escartment above Lewiston. There is a special place there which I know which is known to few and will fill your senses on a clear day or night and remain in your memory! If you ride the USA side local roads you will probably see that earlier in the day anyways and your option to see it at night weather depending of course.

Second day to the Canadian side. The ride should start on either end at Fort Erie on the waterfront or Niagara on the Lake at waterfront(area of pay to play Jet Boat Rides fwiw). Niagara on the lake is a must see if you come here. It will fill your senses with the flowers and landscaping canadians are famous for. Mmmmmmm. Lovely. And the people scenery as all and many come here from Toronto and other places round about canada too for getaways. Traffic is a problem but you will be going modestly to take in the views of the niagara river and gorge and powerplant and niagara falls proper(canadian side view fwiw). Depending which side you choose to start you will do this in differing order. You will, at some point, head inland on the local canadian roads to enjoy the twists and turns that will present if your route is chosen carefully because this is mostly flatlands and little opportunity for good twisties riding except to those(me? locals?) who know where and what roads to go. You will end up on the Ridge road in Hamilton overlooking the city and lake ontario.

You can finish the day going back to niagara falls maybe stopping to eat in Port Dalucy near St. Catherines. A local hangout for young people. And then back to the falls where you will probably be splitting up to head back home???? j

    Thoughts? geo

    hope it helps

Hamilton, ON..... is beautiful and quaint in the most charming Canadian way, far removed from the shocking over-urbanization of the GTA and home to the famous Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum !! All while Niagara Falls is a freakshow of Houdini, Ripley, and and tourist foolishness, not to mention traffic congestion and delays in bridge crossings.....

Nevertheless, although i NEVER get up that early, Squwerlman will be in attendance (maybe not on my VFR) so save me a seat at the Sundowner close to the stage !

Thanks for the info guys. Jimmy has it right... I'm coming from MD and two other guys are coming from Western MI. Friday and Sunday are both travel days for me. I'm figuring about a 9 or 10 hour ride to get there. Kind of a long ride for a trip cut so short but its early in the season. I'm not sure my back neck shoulders and ass are ready for the ride up there let alone a tour. It is what it Is and we'll make the best of the time we have. Someone familiar with the area would be great to have as a guide. Seems like everyone's ideas are going in several directions. The bottom line is the hotel plans are made and are pretty much final for several of us so we're moving forward with it as planned. Hope to see you all there.

    Hi Joe.
You can add me to the list. I would prefer to pick up with you on the Canadian side when you cross over. If I knew what time and where you were planning to arrive in Canada and where, I could meet you there. Maybe in Fort Erie? Just need a time and location.
Looking forward to hearing back from you.
    MIKE

Ok, the list is getting bigger. I have to agree with jimmy though. I am coming from out of state and would rather ride NF and Canada more than Pa. If the group decides to ride Pa then I guess thats what we'll do. I just don't see riding all that way to NF and backtracking two hours to ride in Pa. Sunday would be a good day to do that as it's on the way home for me. Saturday morning at 9am in front of the lobby at the Holiday Inn.
    Sounds good to me.

OK men, Blackjack_Mike has stepped forward as a local guide. There is an established US side meeting place / time. The Canadian riders sensibly don't want to cross to the US and then immediately back into CAN. Let Blackjack_Mike set a meeting place in NF at say 9:30, with some slack for border crossing, get the group together and let the sight seeing begin.

As an aside, Squirrelman, are you a big drinker? That was quite a post! You didn't even type "Squirrelman" correctly!! :)

A idea for part of the ride in NY we could take you to the place that invented the Chicken Wing lunch which may be smart then we can cross over to Fort Erie and meet up with blackjack_mike since he seems to have offered to show the Ca side. If so I'll show the local NY sights early Sat and take ya to the place to eat (no I'm not buying lunch for more then myself) and take ya across the boarder to meet up with blackjack_mike and follow along. Sounds like this is going to be more of sight seeing ride/meet with some bench racing mixed in...which is fine. I was think earlier it was going to be more of a ride on our local best roads.

I'm agreeing with most of what is being said in this thread. I'd love to go out and hit up some good roads. But they are far. And since this is a Niagra ride, I was originally expecting it to be just a meet around Niagra. Just a nice, relaxed ride more for social reasons than riding.

Lets all start at the same place, do the same ride, finish in the same place, and have a good easy time. Keep everything nice and simple. I'm coming strictly for the social aspect and for the sake of seeing Niagra.

Someone post up on what border crossings are like. peace bridge is probably going to be busy. Not sure about the rest of them.

I'll see you guys at the hotel friday night
