I purchased the above at the same time I bought my 3 GIVI cases; my prior experience buying GIVI was good so I had high hopes. Well, after waiting a month to allow any warts to show up I can honestly say that for anyone looking for more wind protection the GIVI Touring is a really good option.

The shield at first seemed a tad flimsier that the OEM shield but upon reflection I now realize it is simply a function of the taller profile not lower quality. It went on easily, with the exception of one of the 2 poorly-designed OEM upper fairing rubber-grommet encased nuts that wouldn't stay in place to allow its mounting bolt to screw it into it and you can't fit your hand in behind it to hold it in place-took me 20 minutes to install the new shield and about 19 of the minutes were spent on that one nut. Grrrrrr.

I'm 5-11 and the wind protection is dramatically improved, and it also looks much nicer than the stocker-has a nice light tint to it.

As always, only one person's opinion but I'm very pleased. I recommend it.

    Joe

Do you have any close up pictures of it on your bike?

BTW, this screen is terrible if you're over 6 feet tall. Well, you might like it in cold weather cause it protects you really well from the shoulders down, but MAN does it create a vortex at helmet level that will just KILL you with NOISE. That's why I sold mine. This screen is for <6 footers!

That may be accurate; no shield fits everyone. However, if you do want the added wind and cold protection I would still consider using the Touring and and wearing earplugs. I started wearing them a few months back out of general enjoyment and not due to the shield change. I've got to say, cutting out a lot of the ambient noise really makes for a nice ride; you still hear the traffic and bike but the noise is pushed into the background. I seem to focus better with them in. Just my 2 cents...

It looks good. I am only 5'7" so it may work for me.

What is a good screen for someone over 6 feet(6'1")? I have the Zero Gravity double bubble and it is ok but still kind of windy at meh head.

I'm also 6'1" and looking for a new screen. I have a stock screen now and I don't have turbulence pushing my head around, but the noise is terrible even with earplugs and NOJ quiet rider. I'm going to try the ZG DB unless someone can make a recommendation for my height.

Just a thought for those experiencing a lot of wind noise (as opposed to outright rough turbulence)...sometimes the helmet has a lot to do with it. Using myself as an example, I switched from a Shoei full-face to a Nolan N102 Modular a couple of years ago and even though I do like the Nolan there is definitely more wind noise with it. 2 reasons I believe; one is that the structural integrity is compromised a bit by the flip-up design-that seam all around the front can't help but let air whistle through. The second reason is that the Nolan has a BIG profile; that thing attracts air like riding down the highway carrying a 4x8 sheet of plywood sideways. That helmet is so large that when I wear my snug-fitting Fox Moto GP jacket with my Nolan I look like an alien from a cheesy 1950s movie :) A good reason I have 2 other jackets...

My point is that sometimes the shield isn't always the sole culprit. With the OEM shield I had little weather/wind protection AND a lot of helmet noise, with the GIVI I still have helmet noise but I have much less wind hitting my body. Either way, I'm sold on earplugs now-both to save my hearing long-term and to increase the riding enjoyment-the muted sounds really seem to help me focus on the ride.

Additionally, when it comes time for a new helmet I'm going to pay close attention to the reviews to see which helmets are judged the most quiet and I'll try to find one that fits me out of that group.

Hope this helps a little bit...
    Joe

Iv'e had Arai Shoei and have tried HJC helmets. My Shoei RF1000 has the least wind noise of all those. The Arai actually has been the loudest and most expensive....but it looked cool?

I have a Joe Rocket rebranded HJC and it is LOUD. I bought an RF1000 a month ago and it helps but my head still gets a lot of wind.

Yeah, I wear earplugs almost all the time now. I didn't need to so with my Magna. It had a 20-inch tall Memphis Fats shield that came up to just an inch or two under eye level; it was realy quiet. But with sportbikes...even a touring shield can only improve things so much...

I have the OEM windshield and just switched from a HJC CL-15 to a Shoei rf1000. The Shoei is not as loud but ear plugs are still good idea, the biggest improvement is the Shoei is much lighter, smaller, more comfortable, much less wind turbulence and my peripheral vision is better. I know this is not a helmet thread but the helmet is a big part of noise regardless of windshield

I am after a new screen too. I am purely after a (dark) tinted screen & don't want anything too tall as I find they look a little odd. I was looking at the Zero Gravity SR screen. Anyone tried one of these?
