iv been talking to a guy from the area about the path. from what iv heard a couple times the NY side sucks.

our best bet is to chose a hotel, then ride around the Niagara parkway.

Might even give us time to go the entire parkway if we dedicate it to the Canada side.

Is the above mentioned hotel a good one to meet, close to the Niagara parkway?

Looking forward to the first big ride of the season. I'm glad the hotels are booked, it helps to firm up everyones times and schedules. With that in mind,
is there somewhere we can meet on Sat morning. I'm coming from Toronto area early Sat morning (about 1hr from the falls). I'm not sure what time you'll be coming into the Falls on Saturday but I would like to hook up with you guys there. Could we meet somewhere for breakfast/lunch? and then ride the rest of the day?

Would definatly like to meet for lunch.

here is part of an email from someone iv been talking to.

"Well, if your wanting to see the falls mainly then you can do so in about a day. If you spend the first half the day riding, you can spend the second half at the falls on the US side say. Then same the second day but in canada. If you want to see the water above, at and below the falls you can just take the river road in canada from Fort Erie down to Niagara on the Lake. The section from Niagara Falls Canada to Niagara on the Lake Canada is a nice ride if you go at a modest pace and more fun if you go hyperspeed. But I don't really recommend hyperspeed for those unfamiliar... especially on a weekend day. Late on a weekend night is another matter though... at least for those familiar with the various twists and turns. You can also follow the escartment out towards Hamilton Canada to see a great view of lake ontario and its really beautiful at night. A few fun roads can be found there. The ridge road and the intersecting roads up and down the escartment can be fun but a number of straight sections in between. Effingham Road and Route 69 are a few local favorites."

I basicially asked him to recommend a route for us. He may or may not be able to join.

It appears that from the hotels to Niagara-on-the-Lake is a 34-minute trip, so there's some leeway there...

I'm not partial to riding in one country vs. another, but it would make sense to reduce border crossings.

There are a few of us that live in areas where the only curves are the right-handers that get you on and off the highway, so if we could find some curves along with the scenery, it would be great!

Because we are staying in NY Friday night, does it make sense to ride 1/2 of Saturday in NY, looking for curves, and then head across the border and check out the Falls as a nice wind-down and picture-taking expedition?

Are there good roads SE of Buffalo? If we do that in the morning and then work our way up to Fort Niagara in the afternoon, we can cross the river and border up north, and take the Niagara Pkwy. back to town and hotel #2.

It would be nice to spend some time in NY saturday as I got my bike somewhat working but no longer have time to get border crossing docs.

I don't care one way or another as to which side we ride. Gonna book my hotel this weekend at one of the above named. Probably just gonna stay at the same one both nights.

I'm also thinking it would make sense to say at the same hotel both days. Lets do CA Niagra first thing saturday morning. If there's not a lot to see/riding isn't as fun/roads are crowded/finish quickly, we can hop back across the border and do some riding in NY. Still only two border crossings, except we don't have to do one sunday morning when we leave, and no converting currency for the hotel/food.

Sorry I haven't kept up on this post/ride. I thought I would get e-mails if it had replies and got non.

The 30th and 31st are good for me.

If we are going to ride south of Buffalo to Pa/ and want me to show the way to the nice roads and sights south of buffalo it would make more sense that you guys find a place south of buffalo to stay......Like in Hamburg,NY 14085/near me to save travel time and we can hang at my house before or and or after the ride or the shop squirrelman mentioned which is about five mins from my house.
The roads/sights south of me in Pa will take us at least a hour to get to from my house.

FYI NF's is north of me around a 30 min ride on the highway. This is a list of places near me if you want to rethink on a place to stay.

If anyone want to call me PM/email me and I will give ya my cell phone #.

good idea. I agree, Canada on Saturday and US on Sunday. I would like to see thye falls one way or another tho. I think I'll book my hotel somewhere close to the border on the US side. CLose to where everyone else is staying of course.

Joe ~ How close is Hamburg,NY 14085 to where everyone is meeting up? If not to far I think that would be good. Do you have a meet up point set up already?

    Joe,
Thank you for your offers. One option may be for some of us to meet at the hotel in NF, NY, and then head down your way for a mid-morning meeting at the bike shop.If we're heading down 219, it's not too far to the Zip code you posted. From there, we could hit the twisties. When the "fun" riding is done, then a few of us can make our way back up the to the hotels we have booked.

PS. I have not been able to find the Honda dealer squirrelman mentioned, so it's hard to map!

From the Holiday Inn where a couple of are staying, it's only 35 miles / 45 mins to 14085, and it's sort of on the way to the mountains. (Best guess is 2-3 miles from the highway we would ride down.) We could feasibly be at the shop by 10:00 AM.

I take the hotel you're staying in is the Holiday Inn Express in NF, NY? That sounds good. Will book my room tonight. Probably gonna go up Friday night and check out Sunday morning. Will keep you posted on any changes.

No, it's a non-express. There happens to be a full Holiday Inn and an Express nearby, but this is the one that a couple of us have a room booked at.

I'm soooo confused......on what is going on with this ride/meet/sight seeing trip. Some one needs to set a plan or be a the ride leader.......Like what the majority wants to do or one that takes the bull by the horns and sets a plan on
    1) place we are going to stay at if others want to stay at the same place.
    2) time to meet each day (start point)
    3) what this ride/meet/sight seeing trip is going to ride (roads you are going to ride in general) and or meet is meeting in general at what location and sights we are going to see in general.
    4) end point in case we loose each other we can still meet up at the end of the day.

I'm game for any thing nor in to being tohe one to take the bull by the horns and say xyz on 123 day and time....I can just see we have no plan and we will end up the day of the ride with the few that show up looking at each other wondering what to do next.

I agree with Joe. Everyone is trying to be extremely accomodating to everyone else, which is awesome, but it has left us without any real plan. Can we say the following.

    1) Meet in Canada side of Falls Saturday morning. Eat breakfast and ride.
    2) Head to US side Saturday evening.
    3) Sleep.
    4) Ride US side Sunday
    5) Go home Sunday afternoon.

    Sound good?

We have a plan posted on VFRD that JSZR2 (FlaminV4 there) and I have worked on. I didn't start either thread, so I can't edit the first post. Sorry for the confusion, but JSZR2 and I just took over early this week.

Here is a link to that thread:

I like this plan. I am not familiar with the area being I've only been to NF once. I will be arriving Friday night hopefully not to late, 9ish or so. At least there is a plan in the making.
Lets get a list of people attending.
