    Just browsing the web and came across this:
    Honda VFR800 RC46 (1998-2001)

    • Harris adjustable rear sets
    • Harris carbon fibre hugger
    • Carbon Fibre petrol Tank cap and surround
    • Carbon Fibre top yoke cover with numbered plaque Black powder coated wheels
    • Remus Grand Prix Hi - Level Pipe (Carbon Race pictured and S/S 'E' marked)
    • Proflex fully adjustable race shock
    • Paintwork by Dream Machine (though quality is not as good as Hondas O/E)

    Anyone ever seen one?

    I've seen the 50th anniversary edition but never with the Harris rearsets installed from the factory?

    I have them on my '99, bought aftermarket.

    Ohlins, matched to the RC51 front end.

    The Harris rearsets are a little higher than stock, but you can also place them further back which was actually more comfortable for me. Worked out pretty well.

    Rare 50th Anniversary VFR

    Have not just seen one, own no 48.

    They were developed by Honda Britain race team and Russell at RS Performance, sold through Honda outlets in UK.

    The website listed has dis-appeared but it did have one error which it copied from a description of another website which described a bike which had a modified exhaust. Had a high level Remus can as standard.

    As stated only 50 were made in 1998, each had a numbered plaque on the top yoke and came with a custom cover and owners jacket.

    Mine is 3rd owner, just under 30k miles and in need of some re-work, do not have cover or jacket. But does now have high level pipe and correct screen,

    Unlikely any ever made it to the US.

    In 1999 Honda Europe did a volume 50th Anniversary machine which had a red/silver paint scheme reproducing that of the Honda racing colours of the 1960s.

    Have read about it in my Haynes manual. Interesting that they made so few and that they had a little more "tweak" to them.

    Have never seen one personally but I think the paint scheme might not have been the best choice for Honda - reminds me of a car with different colour body parts required after being damaged - I know, it's irrelevant what I think, just an opinion and having such a rare Viffer would be quite a treat. All the other items it came with sound fantastic.

    There are two Honda 50th Anniversary VFRs

    The Haynes manual refers to the 1999 (FiX) Honda 50th Anniversary model produced by Honda Europe.

    This sold for same price as stock red model but had paint scheme inspired by 1960 Honda race bikes (google for "Mike Hailwood Honda"). Silver top and front fairings had yellow stripe with HONDA added. Tank was special with 60's silver wing "Hm" logo and silver stripes. Stripes extended to pillion cowl. Tailpiece was stock red.

    These were a volume seller in Europe but paint scheme was not to everyone's choice so dealers had stock until 2001. Regularly sell in UK and appear to be getting more popular

    Contrary to Haynes manual information they had standard engines.

    Not in the Haynes manual was the 1998 (FiW) Honda 50th Anniversary model produced by Honda Britain race team and Russell at RS Performance. Only 50 of these were made, each one having a numbered plaque on top yoke.

    They cost £1,000 more than stock model and included in sale was a red bike cover with gold 50th Anniversary branding and a paddock jacket.

    The colour scheme was red/white/black with carbon fibre graphics and gold Honda badge on the tank. Paintwork was by Dream Machine and not as good as a Honda OEM job.

    Correct list of extras is :

    * Harris adjustable rear sets
    * Harris carbon fibre hugger
    * Carbon Fibre petrol tank cap and surround
    * Carbon Fibre top yoke cover with numbered Honda Britain plaque
    * Black powder coated wheels
    * Remus Grand Prix Hi - Level Pipe
    * Proflex fully adjustable race shock
    * Paintwork by Dream Machine

    Wow. Thanks 50th VFR for the info. Here I was thinking I knew all kinds of stuff about our beloved bikes, and you told me something new today.
    Your VFRs look beautiful, by the way.

    From the pics, it looks like you redirected your exhaust under the tail? Is this the case? Do you have any pics of what it looks like from the back?

    Thanks.

    Edit:

    Nevermind, I just looked at your gallery and saw that it is an undertail exhaust. Looks great!

    Re "Hey - one is on ebay right now:"

    This is the "other" Anniversary model done by Honda Europe in 1999. Been five on e-bay so far this month.

    This thread is about the run of 50 Anniversary models produced by Honda Britain in 1998.

    1998 Honda Britain 50th Anniversary was started as a stock FiW model but was worked on by RS Performance who at that time ran the Honda Britain race team. Strict run of 50 with

    • Harris adjustable rear sets
    • Harris carbon fibre hugger
    • Carbon Fibre petrol Tank cap and surround
    • Carbon Fibre top yoke cover with numbered plaque
    • Remus Grand Prix Hi - Level Pipe
    • Proflex fully adjustable race shock
    • Paintwork by Dream Machine

    1999 Honda Europe 50th Anniversary model was a stock FiX model with a paint scheme tribute to the Honda race team colours of the 1960s. Standard colour option in 1998 (UK got 3 colour options each year) was overstocked and you will see 2000 and even 2001 registered bikes.

    Both have standard linked brake system.

    Attached pics show difference.

    cheers

    Bill
