To all the master mechanic here, Sir's Need help and advice regarding my 1987 NC24. I already brought my bike in two different mechanics for repair and this cost me a lot for the labor already, but still the problem of my bike is not resolved.

    Here are the Problems:

    1. When I started the bike in the morning, the engine will shut down if I release the throttle from Rev. I have to rev or choke it first for 5 minutes before it becomes stable.

    2. There are times my engine shut down while running in low speed and if shifting from 3rd gear to 2nd gear or from 2nd gear to neutral. This is usually happened when Im about to shift the gear to neutral or before I full stop my engine is already dead.

Hope somebody can give me an advice.

    Thanks in advance.

    problem

it is normal to choke the bike before you start in the morning. once it warms up, you can release it and it should be ok. maybe your idling in low. i had an '86 400r, not the single sided like yours and had a similar issue but got resolved when we adjusted the idling. i also had problems with the diaphram. i do not know where it is (carbs, i guess) but that's what my mechanic told me. hope this helps.

taga saan ka brod? taga cebu ako.

Sir, Im from Quezon City. Thanks for the immediate reply.

    Thanks

    Hi,
I have a '87 (VFR 750- engine rc 24), is it the same engine? First of all, if engine dies and needs too much choke may be there's a problem with the fuel feed line.
Just test : vent cap, fuel pump relay. A broken fuel relay caused the same symptoms to my bike.
    Best regards.

    CARMINE,

Thanks for your advice. I'll check it this weekend, what if there is no problem with the pipes? do you have any other idea of the cause of this? when im removing the vacuum host that was connected in fuel cock diaphram, the rpm is going up instead my engine died.

    Thanks again.

yes, its a very nice 3 hours ride from Manila to Baguio. Of course there are some accidents happened. The worse of all is the one who hit by a bus while over taking, but
he is very lucky because he got some fractured only.

This is another evidence that there is a fuel feed problem. If possible, check the status of the petcock (clogged filter ?). Maybe you noted that commuting in "reserve" position the engine seems to run better ? And check, if any, the fuel filter on the line from tank to pump. Also, when you turn the ignition key "on", do you hear a "pulse" arising from the fuel pump ? In normal conditions, the pump begins to charge carburettors and then stops until the carbs are empty again and then the relay allows to aspire fresh fuel. If the functioning of pump and relay are not in this sequence, be sure that the engine will die. I hope this will help, you know it is hard to say what happens at a distance!
    Best regards.

North Luzon is better because there is a new highway called SCTEX its the highway tha connects CLARK AMERICAN AIR BASE and SUBIC AMERICAN BASE. The road is wide and straight. my buddies are running up to 300kms./hour there. but my baby VFR 400 runs only 220kms./hr and thats the only I can do for my baby.

Have you tried your baby runs this kind of speed. I think so, coz your baby has an higher displacement. 300kms./hour is easy for your VFOURCE.

Ride Safe Bro. I'll post again our rides photo here, hope you can share your rides too.

    Thanks.
