    Hi there,

I've been the reading the forums the past couple of days and finally signed up today so that I could ask my question.

I'm looking at buying a used 2006 VFR (non-ABS) with 13,000 miles. It's supposed to be in good condition (I'll be going to take a look at it later this evening). I'm familiar with motorcycles (see below) but, is there anything specific that I should be looking for with this year and model?

I currently ride a cruiser (a Kawi Vulcan 900 Custom for those curious) and although I'm very happy with it, I'm looking to expand my riding experience (and to fulfill my wish of owning a sportsbike from when I was a kid  ) so the viffer would be my second bike.

    Thanks in advance!

I suggest you buy my 2007 that is for sale!

Hmmm, things to look for... ask for the service record, how the bike was broken in, and how "spirited" was the last rider (i.e. has the clutch been abused or does it need new fork seals from wheelies).

Then you should buy my '07 cause it is MINT!!!

Anything specific? Not really I suppose just the normal "buying a used bike" questions and visual inspection. 13,000 miles is nothing, should be just fine for your needs.

I recently met a guy at the gym who had been riding Harleys for 30 years. He went and bought a zx14 and said to me "I can't believe I waited this long to ride a sportbike". He's a new man...you can be too!

    Cool, thanks for the info.

LOL! Sure, let me take a look at this bike (it is local so easier for me ;) ) but if that doesn't pan out, perhaps. Where's your bike?

I also figured that the miles are not that bad (considering I've put about 7,000 on my current cruiser in just 6 months). What I'm looking for is anything like recalls, known problems with this year/model that I should look for before I commit to buying the bike.

    LOL!

Some people I know have given up their cruisers and switched over to sportsbikes. As for me, on the other hand, there's no way I'm giving up my cruiser. I ABSOLUTELY love "cruising" on my baby. I do, however, want to experience a different style of riding so I figure "I'll just get a second bike!"
