I just bought an 85 VF500 and want to rebuild the engine entirely. The only problem is that I may need to get bigger pistons and rings. I can find pistons up to 1.0 overbore, but cant locate any rings! Any suggestions?

Sorry, but I dont have a pic of mine up yet, thats an image that I WISH mine looked like! What color are you gonna do the frame? I'm actually thinking of doing a round headlight conversion, black powdercoating for the frame and then painting it 2000 VT1000 Yellow. I'll get a pic of it uploaded soon. Thanx.

I've had a boner for these bikes since they came out, and actually found it on craigslist for $675 and couldnt pass it up. It runs, but the previous owner wore the back tire out while riding it, then used the chain to fix his daughters 4wheeler! I figured that was all it'd need, but after getting it home I've decided to take the time & $$ to fix it up right. When I'm done it'll be a daily driver through the streets of Idaho. Still thinking of doing the naked streetfighter conversion, and painting it WAY DIFFERENT.. Starting with some F2 wheels, updated suspension, oiling mod.... basically EVERYTHING YOU'VE ALREADY DONE AND PLAN TO DO TO YOURS.

jamie turned me into a believe about the suspension he's currenting working on the forks for me and so the f2 wheel will be going on soon! get ready i sunk a bunch of money into this ole girl but it has been worth every penny! the 500 where not affected by the oiling problem as much as the 700/1000's were i would say updating the old suspension is a good start the f2 wheel mod is awesome to be able to run modern rubber is nice:biggrin: sweet keep us post and take plenty of pictures alot of guy around here cant read

    keep ridin bro

if you look closely you can see where i leaned it so far over that the header has dragged the ground but the hindles hang lower than the factory exhaust systems!
