Hi everyone. I got bitten by the V4 bug awhile ago when I got my 85' VF1000R. I'm looking to get a 6th gen VFR800 in a couple weeks to replace my VF as my driver so I can finally start to restore it. The problem is that I don't know anyone in my area that owns a VFR and the local dealership doesn't have one. I have a few leads but I'm trying to be sure that I will fit properly before I drive 2.5 hours to the nearest one. I'm 6'4" 220 pounds with a 32" inseam. I am looking for input from anyone with a similar build that can tell me their experiences on how well they fit on a VFR. Thank you.

well im 5'11" and i can tell you that i had to lower mine an inch to flat foot it and feel more comfortable parking it. i also had to get heli's to shorten up the reach to the bars, and i have pretty long arms. these bikes seem to have plenty of leg room though. also, for me to even touch where the seat rises(passenger pillion?) with my butt i have to be in an all out race tuck with my feet on the passenger pegs. i think these 6th gens are built for rather large people. you should be fine. send SOUNDMASTER31 a pm. that guy is huge, maybe hes ridden a 6th gen...

I'm 6'2' and my 6th gen. is very comfortable for me. VFRs have lower pegs, & higher bars than an average sport bike. It will probably be under sprung for your weight, especially if you ride fast, but that can be corrected. Good luck

Thank you all for the quick replies. I've read that they are taller person friendly but the definition of tall varies especially when it come to motorcycles. I just wanted to be sure before I drove that far for nothing.

I'm 6'1", and feel like the reach down to the bars is slightly farther than is comfortable for me. As such, I'm looking at the Heli bar riser to get a more casual position. The reach for a 6'4" person should be solid. The Pegs on the other hand might be a bit high for a casual rider, but are fine for more agressive riding.

I would think the ergonomics would be fine for you. At 6'4" tall the stock windscreen might let a little more wind at your head than you might like but there are aftermarket screens available. As mentioned your knees might be bent pretty good for the pegs. The Buell footpeg mod or the busylittleshop peg brackets could drop those an inch or so.

I have a 6th gen and am 5'9" 30" inseam and 34" arms and it seems to work well for me. I wouldn't mind being able to get a little more foot on the ground but I can pretty much flat foot it and that is with the rear preload up as high as it goes. I wouldn't mind a little more upright position but the hunch over is not too bad.

I'm 5'10" 200lbs with 30" inseam and the bike fits me perfect. I'm sure someone in the AZ area would be willing to let you ride their 6th Gen if you let them ride your Sherman Tank (a.k.a - VF1000R)

    Regards,
    Rollin

I'm 5'11, 190, 34" inseam and the bike fits me perfect. Stock bars, and no lowering. I can flat foot it at a stop, so no issues there.

Welcome to the bug/ disease that is a 6th Gen VFR!

At 6'4", 165 lbs, and a 35" inseam, the bike fits me well. I have long legs and arms and have no problems with discomfort. My bike is a 5th gen though. There aren't many sport bike options for people of our stature. The VFR will most likely be your best bet.

    Hi,
I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam. The bike is very comfortable as stock. The small changes I have made were adding a Zero Gravity screen (That took off a lot of wind), and Heli Bars. The bars made it more of an upright seating position and very comfortable. It sounds like your torso is fairly long, so those small changes would be easy for you and lots more comfortable.

Well I'm 6'5'' and 245. The VFR fits me pretty well, much better that any of the liter bikes.

I am 6'3 and 200 pounds with a 32" inseem, and ride a '07 6th Generation. The bike fits me well. Wind hits me right at eye level, and at somepoint I plan to upgrade the windshield, but it doesn't bother me significantly. I did a 2.5 hour ride last night, and after some canyon carving my legs get a little tight, but nothing that some stretching won't fix. I haven't done much research on lowering the footpegs, but that would be something I would consider in the future as well.

This is my first bike, so I don't have anything to really compare to, but I feel very balanced and comfortable overall.

Thank you all again for the replies. I guess I will just go with the intentions to buy one then. I just wanted to be sure that I wasn't going to die of uncomfortableness on the long drive home after I get it. I'll look into the aftermarket windscreens and lowered footpegs once I get a feel for it.

The ones I'm looking at are in Phoenix. I still need to sell a car before the wife will let me pick one up though.
