i bought this bike with out the fairings so i decided to turn it into a street fighter. I just put this left hand exit exhaust on on saterday and i thought i'd share the progress. i have a tail off of a 94 cbr900rr that i'm putting on in the next couple weeks and i'me taking the stripe off along with try to clean of the front of the bike and hide alot more of the wires and such.
Remove the air valves, block off plates on Ebay, Not sure about the Flask thou ... Looking forward to seeing the CBR tail. Are you using the sub frame too? Glad to see you keeping it alive. keep us updated!!
+1 on the pair valves. also remove everything related to the evap canister too. with the pair valves i wouldnt even bother with the block off plates. just pull all the hoses off that are related to it and make sure to plug them up. with the evap canister and pair valves gone you will have a whole rats nest worth of hoses and wires removed. also a little more than 5 lbs.
cool, thanks for the advice, its rainin preatty hard here for the next week so i guess i know what i'll be doing. does anyone know if i can use i set of oil cooler lines off of another bike that are shorter, mine are just way to long and i need to shorten them
yeah, first time i took the side fairing off my vfr i found that there was a lot the fairings hid. A lot more than on my R6. You've got a good start on it. I'll definitely enjoy following your progress.
maybe take the oil cooler off altogether... and get a universal kit that goes inbetween the block and oil filter and do something custom... just a thought.
Hey terrible, nice looking 4th gen. Where you located? I only ask cause its raining for the next couple days here In NW Washington too.
How hot does it run with only one radiator? I would be concerned since the VFR is a hot running bike anyway. Changing the oil cooler too much could effect that as well. Cosmetically looks like you are off to a good start.
I'm not sure how hot its running i still need to hook up some more gauges and i thought my bike only came with one radiator to begin with. the oil cooler i think will be better the way i'm going to modify it since the oil won't have to travel as far or as high as the stock setup. i have tommorow off so i'll be doing some of these things and taking more pics
have you thought about trying to shorten up that exhaust a little. you're really lucky to have one of those rare full 2 bros exhausts, so i wouldnt do anything to extreme. mabey just find a shorty muffler for it or take the last couple of inches off the tailpipe... i think it would look much better.
ya i have but i'm putting a whole different tail on it and i want to see what it looks like first. but i know i will end up shortening it, just not sure how much
so i started mocking up the new cbr900rr tail and just put on one of the plastics to get an idea of how its going to look. i'm very excited
Looking good! My girlfriend would hate me if I made her sit up that high. Plus Id have to get new givi mounts. Keep it up and give details on how you are fitting the new sub frame.
I'm planing on getting a seat cowl cover and a fender eliminater to clean up the look of the back end. all i really had to do to get the subframe to fit was drill out the top frame rail holes on an angle and a little bigger to line it up. the bottom rails line up ok i just need to get some hardware for it. I'm really liking having a project bike instead of a project car like i've had for so long. what would have taken me weeks on my car takes me only an hour on this bike! hopefuly i'll get everything put on tonight
