Just thought I'd share some pics to show where I mounted the ballasts for my HID install. Having these pics ahead of time would of helped me, so I thought I'd share with everyone else. As for the HID's, the are a generic brand. Both myself and my friends have had good luck with them on previous bikes. I have chosen to install only high beams in HID for several reasons: 1)I like having the ability to ride with them on or not. 2) Their primary use is to increase other drivers ability to see me during daylight hours. 3) When I am riding at night (rarely) it is generally out of town, and hi-beams are more frequently used . 4) I already have decent low beam bulbs of the same colour temperature (6000k) I took the bike out after the install (daylight hours) and had a lot of turned heads, as well as drivers checking their rearview mirrors.... It's comforting when other drivers can't help but notice you. Night pics will follow...
I dont agree with putting HID's on a bike that doesnt have a casper shield for the bulb. I've been in a very bad situation with my current bike.. I was riding at night with my low beams on, the driver on the other lane was blinded my by bulbs and almost hit me head on. I've also been in bad situations where I've been behind people and they've locked up their breaks on my because my lights were so bright. HID helps extremely well, but make sure you position your lamps correctly, or your light will be blinding the world.
Jasonsmith: Temperature is 6000k.... It was a toss up between these and 4300k but I like the crisp look of these better osb: That's why I installed them as highbeams. I will ride with the HID's during the day when it is not a distraction to other drivers. At night in the city I stick to lowbeams. The definitely need to be aimed better though. Maybe that'll be my project for the night
