Scott- Meet me at the Safeway in Bristow at 11:30. Weather looks like it may hold up for us to make a quick pass. I think we might be heading to Warrenton to meet up a friend out there. Probably make a quick pass over the mountains. If you see/hear someone on a 5th gen heading in the direction of Manassas. That'll be me! I get gas at shell stations only (all explain why later) and I didn't fill up after the last trip out and about. So unless the weather changes I'll be at the Safeway at 11:30. I'll PM you my cell number.

Cool, I am looking forward to it. I will be there and ready to go at 11:30, unless it is wet and then I'll call to confirm. I'll PM you my number as well.

    Scott

Thanks Matt!!! It was good to meet you and thanks for leading the ride today. Those were some fun roads, even with the construction delays, exactly what I needed. It was just great to be out on the bikes, nice pace and good fun trying to keep up with you. Will definitely give you a shout next time, looking forward to more rides with you and the other local folks here that I have yet to meet.

I cannot make it this weekend because I have family coming into to town and they have me taking them out to do touristy things, but definitely some other time.

Not really. I know the rain keeps them in.

I did drag a knee right behind an unmarked Impala on Sunday though. Didn't think it was a cop as he had gone by us earlier. When we caught up to the line of traffic I wanted to cruise around one more turn which resulted in me being much closer to the car than the previous encounter. That's when I saw the strobes in the back window. Luckily I wasn't speeding. I don't know what jurisdiction he was either. Wish I had a camera...

hey i know someone who has a camera!

btw the new shock is working out great. i think that little extra height makes the biggest different, it just goes right in and wants to stay over now. thanks again for the help.

Awesome. I know someone said they got a warning for aggressive driving for dragging a knee on the streets.

True...glad you're enjoying the new shock. Let's get your forks hooked up ASAP! Look in your manual and see how much detail it gives on fluid replenishment and seal installation. The seals and oil should be less than $50 total and the improvement will be very noticeable. I have a front stand that hooks in the steering stem and probably fits your bike. Getting them off is a piece of cake. The only specialized tool needed is a seal pusher thingy (technical name). But I think I've heard of people making them out of PVC pipe.

Fork seal driver...I'm researching my Haynes 'Hawk manual right now to see what is necessary to measure fluid and other minor details.

i like your technical name better. from the exploded digram it doesnt look too difficult. but it doesnt give much direction. one thing i was also wanting to do was use new lowers/legs, or whatever you call em, i dont know what the previous owner did to them but theyre pretty beat up. i got them a while ago on ebay, couldnt pass em up for the price i paid. but that can be done later when i put in gold valves. id like to go all out with them now but ive been spending waaaay too much money on bike stuff lately. gotta save some money for food every once in a while.

you think i should replace the bushings too?

you have a pit bull stand?
