Hi all, thanks for taking the time to look at this thread. My '94 VFR750 now lacks the fairing, the front headlights and the frame that holds the electrics panel is bent and need replacing. This leaves me with two options I think: 1: Buy the front end faring including lights and new frame and leave the bike with a FZR kinda look. I can't afford the entire fairing at this stage and have resigned myself to the fact that it won't get back to it's original condition. 2: Buy aftermarket front headlights and indicators and leave the bike completely naked. The problem with this is that the electrics are now exposed and will require covering some how. This seems to be a cheaper options. Questions: Has anyone done something like this? Any problems, hidden costs? I would like to do option 2, but the logistics of protecting the electrics seem almost impossible. Any suggestions? Will it cost less than option 1? Thanks again for any help. Cheers, Tom.
Not the best of options. If you leave it naked, to have it look good, you would also have some chroming plating to do to have it looking like a street bike. Had a look on my 95 and to cover them would look average unless you did some major rewiring. My advice, take your time and save up for the fairings - might be a little pricier but definately a lot less dramas Tim
Hmmm...as you can see, I own a perfectly good VFR800. SO...i'm less inclined to save up and buy the full fairing to rebuild the 750. Plus, i'm looking forward to the project of customising a bike that was designed to be faired. It will require a lot of work to protect the electrics (heat wrapping is one option, rewiring another) but i've got as long as I want to play around. I'm really after ideas and suggestions, no matter how rediculous they seem, to make it firstly roadworthy again, then secondly look good.
Hey. You're based in the UK so there is no shortage of VFR750 parts available to you. Ebay is your friend. You will find that the top side sections are difficult to come by second hand, however. Rod
