Hello, I'm a 59 year old newbie who used to ride Honda 125's in Thailand back in the early 60's. My best friend has been riding forever and now has 4 bikes but the bug didn't bite me until he got a Ducati 1098S (black with red frame)...it just lit a fire under my ass and I bought his 99 VFR. Prior to the Duck I had no real interest in owning a bike, so I guess I can blame the Italians... I just completed an MSF basic course and will be getting my license soon. Of course, I have ridden illegally around San Diego (and nearly got creamed by a young light-timing truck driver) and it was just as much fun as I remember and more...I've been reading lots of books (Total Control, Proficient Motorcycling, Motorcycling Excellence, Smooth Riding, Idiot's guide to Motorcycling) but resisting the temptation to go blasting around town again until I get the license...I'm looking forward to getting deeper into the VFR as time goes on. Thanks for all the help you might be giving me..

    Right on. Welcome back.
There are several VFR riders in Sandy eggo. I am sure they'd take you under their wings and show ya the ropes.

Thanks. I've already looked for how to remove a clutch lever here and got good info...I dropped the bike in the stadium parking lot the first time I tried to stop - jammed on the front brake with the handlebars turned a little to the left...bent the clutch lever and scraped the mirror a little...haven't dropped it since.

    Back At It

Am almost your age and did the same last year. 10,000 km later, I'm comfortable. Now comes the dangerous part, when you think you feel comfortable, don't...
