I'm buying a leather jacket. Leather is cool & chicks dig it, at least that's what my wife tells me. I have my choices narrowed down to two, the Joe Rocket 2004 Speedmaster or the Alpinestars Venom. I have based my choices on reveiw of the manufacturers (I've looked at pretty much every manufacturer on that's online) web sites. These two seem to offer the best value/protection to dollar ratio. The problem is, none of the dealers around hear (South NJ) stock the hi-end stuff over $400 only the cheaper near $200 stuff. Everything is special order. If it does not fit, they will get the right size, but if I simply do not like it, I'm stuck ???. It seems to me that AS is a bit nicer than JR, but are they worth over $100 more for what is basically the same jacket? I can get the JR for $340 and free S&H, the AS is $450 + $20 S&H. Any thoughts, opinions, recommendations? I've seen a post that says the JR Phoenix is crap but the other stuff they make is OK.

    KC-10 FE out...

I use JR, but that’s just cause I like the quality and durability of JR stuff. I don’t mind paying extra vs AStar, but that’s just me. I bought a similar jacket to the one you are looking into for JR. I got the Blaster 3.0 just before it was discontinued.

+1 on the JR Blaster 3.0

Mine is all black. Best feature is the side torso panels and inner arm panels zip off revealing mesh for those freakin hot days. Love it. The RED is very tempting...and still available on newenough in my size...hmmm...

I would imagine that KC already has what he wants - as Joey pointed out the OP is from 2003.
