86 700 Carb Switch

I have a 86 700 and was wondering if any other years carbs could be switched on this bike. The bike has 45K on it and the carbs have been rebuilt probably three times, think carbs are leaking vacuum around throttle shafts. See several carbs from other years on Ebay just wondering if I could switch to a different year instead of 86. Any input would be appreciated.

 

never heard of VFR carbs trashed after so few miles....your guess may not be correct.

what are the symptoms??

'87 carbs are the same

 

carbs swapping. 87 will fit. I think there are a few others that will work.. and Squirrel, the two sets of carbs Ive gone thru both have had some form of irepairable malfunction...just saying

 

so, like, specifically what, crusty?? Just tryin' to learn.....

 

there are some 94 VFR 750 carbs on Ebay, looking at the pictures they look real similiar to the 86 700's. Anyone know if they will fit?

I am almost sure they will not. Not an expert but the last time I had gen 4 off I did notice the size and angle difference .:thumbsup:

I just got off the phone with a budy of mine and I left a set of carbs at his house years ago and he still has them. If you need them let me know and I shall fetch them and send them to you.:thumbsup:

 

That would be great, I really appreciate that, I have been watching E-Bay and Craigslist trying to find a set for this bike. Please let me know what you want for them and how we can them shipped, Again I really appreciate your help.
