Usually I use about 5 gals for 200 miles on my 6th gen. Id say that your gas mileage sounds about right.

That sounds low to me but it depends on how hard you are riding the bike. You could take it to a shop you trust and put it on a gas analyzer. It will cost some $$ but may save you a lot of time trying to get the mixture right.

I usually run about 40 mpg and I'm content with that. It's double what the car is, but I also accelerate twice as fast on the bike compared to the car.

I would be happy with that. 300 miles? That's not going to happen. I think RVFR has done a couple of 250 mile tanks.

It all depends on how you ride. Lots of city? More touring? How do you carry your speed through corners? Air pressure in tires? So many factors, and not one of us is probably alike.

I usually get around 200 miles and I am happy with that. I am not going to start messing with things, just to get another 20 miles off a tank. I get double what the car does, and that makes me happy.

    Sounds about right to me.

First off I'm running 17/45 sprockets on my 5th gen and my riding weight is 350lbs. When I first got my 5th gen and was granny shifting and kicking it in to 6th gear every chance I had I was getting 200-240 miles on a tank. Back roads are your friend for squeezing out every mpg. Cruise at 55 and watch those miles add up....

A power commander, staintune exhaust, ohlins shock and a whole heap more of skill and experience changed all that. I'm LUCKY to get 180 out of a tank(160 with mostly city driving and some highway/rural). I rarely make it to 5th gear these days unless I'm commuting which makes a huge difference too. Hmm...it's all about throttle control(and your fuel map hehe)

P.S. I still get 2x the mileage of my truck...so HA.

P.P.S. What are you doing on a SPORT-touring motorcycle if you are concerned about fuel mileage

If you want a sport machine with decent mileage get a Buell XB12R.... that's about as good as it'll get at this power/torque range. There's always the Ninja 250 too lol.

I have a 6th Gen, and 95% of my riding is highway commuting and the bike basically goes to the reserve at around 210-225 miles and I seem to routinely average 42mpg so I would say without having your carbs tuned on an exhaust gas analyzer you are in the ballpark- I'm sure the main tank on that bike is designed around a 200 mile range, if you want more, get a Suzuki GS500, they get 58-62mpg and do about 350 miles per tank. Or carry a 2 liter bottle of fuel with you...

Yep, I've seen 60+mpg a couple times where I was stuck in nascar traffic doing 60 for like 200 miles non stop, most of the time I see right around 220+ miles before the red light blinks, but on a brisk pace it can drop to 160-180 miles easy, but for the most part 210-220 on 4.2 gallons is pretty close to 51 mpg. yes a lot of variables, including oil type ;)
