I picked this bike up for $400 off craigslist with the fairings all busted up, I did all the body work & paint myself.

Now even though its a rattle can paint job, I at least tried to do a pro job, Metal Cast Silver Ground coat, Metal Cast Blue & Black Effects, & Multiple clear top coats, about $80 all together for paint alone & for being my 2nd attempt at painting a bike I am pretty happy with it, I mean If you get close enough you can see all the little rookie mistakes but all in all I think this coming winter my 3rd shot will be much better.

Im not sure if the pictures are going to upload, if not then see my photo gallery, check em out & tell me what you think.

Nice paint job! The only thing i personally dont like it´s the windshield, i think it should be transparent so you can see through...but it's just my opinion and it's not my bike.

    Congrats!

    Nice

Great Job! I believed that if you were patient and did the little things you could have a decent paint job without spending $1000. Thanks for proving it to me!

Not my cup of tea but I'm sure it looks much better than it did before. Why not try to restore it back to original? It pains me to see flashy paint jobs on the older semi-classic bikes.

    Regards,
    Rollin

I think you did a good (great) job considering only tried a few times. I like the mirror touch thats cool, but i think the windshield should remain a windshield for those rare times you tuck in, just my thoughts; other wize good job, cool thing about it is for 80 bucks you could do a different scheme on and on have new looking bike every year cool.:thumbsup:if they blue was red how would that look and the silver gold yeah........

I can appreciate the work that went into it, well done. I on the flip side tried and failed, I'll have a badly painted cowl hit the "bay" soon.

Thanks for the comments I appreciate them all & do take consideration to all of your opinions.

It took about 3 months but that's partly Because I lagged on it quite a bit, that and I let it sit between coats, It could have been done in a month If I was on it.

Yeah the thought crossed my mind when I was sanding off the flat black & saw what was underneath, The classic look does have a great color scheme buuuuut I had to go with a different look. thanks.

I am a bit of a bigger guy 6'-2" so I rarely look through the windshield I figured it would be a great way to further the custom look ~ even thought the only thing custom about the bike is the paint.

    Thanks Thanks Thanks!!!!

Awesome paint work I am toiling with the idea of a custom paint scheme on my 84vf1000 yours has a good contrast (not too many flames) the only thing I may have done is make the windscreen smoked out as to cause a space in that area to separate the front so the mirror work blast out. I say this because it would have given it a area of contrast . Good work and detail on the mirrors but in the end it's your design and your ride great job.

FYI..... For all you pip's commenting on his painting of the windscreen...... If you go to his personal photo gallery, and take a look at the before pic's of the screen, you'll see that he didn't have much choice anyway..... and the whole bike's paint job looks Grrr-eat...... Monk

I agree the paint work is great!! I was just making an observation and merely giving an opinion not criticizing .

Good spray bomb job. I'm sure it took some time to mask the pattern.
