i dont think there is "do it all" motorcycle gear. if you want the most protection, go with leathers. i myself have 3 jackets (1 leather, 1 mesh, 1 textile 3/4 length), 2 pairs of pants (1 leather & textile, 1 mesh), 2 pairs of boots (1 race style, 1 waterproof), 4 pairs of gloves(1 heated, 1 summer, 1 insulated, 1 mesh), a 2 piece rain suit, and i just ordered a 1 piece leather suit.

OK, I went with the aerostich for now. Hard choice, not an apples to apples comparison with the leathers but really getting want I want out of it I think. Colorwise, I got the grey with the silver accents on the shoulders and knees/shins - it kinda looks like a military flight suit. Ha! I am going to feel like a fighter pilot on my matching metallic grey six gen, that imagery works for me! Honestly, I am not really into the Mad Max look so I could never commute in leathers to the office, and the coworkers would have a field day with that. Also like that I can wear regular clothes underneath an aerostich, waterproof, jeans and t-shirt in the summer, and can get in and out of it in about 10 seconds so I can shed the hot gear and relax when I break to eat. And I can wash it at home in the washing machine, so it can stay clean and Im not going to be that guy in the stinkie leathers. And I will have something ideal to ride in for the long trips to further away places like Indianappolis for MotoGP and Deals Gap, which are some goals of mine. I know it is probably not exactly the protection and durability that leathers can provide, but still it is very good protection and I ordered the integrated full back protector and the hip pads options with the suit since I will be using it for a couple CCS days at VIR next month. However, If I do become a frequent track day rider I will have to buy some proper leathers but I don't see that happening. I have been spending a lot of money lately but I am ultimately a very practical guy, and riding the local mountain twisties is going to have to be good enough for me.

I didn't mention I also bought some Leo Vince carbon fiber slip ons and the Competition Werks fender eliminator so those will come in soon and be on the bike in short order. At which time I will post up some pics :)

Scott- Good stuff!! Aerostich stuff is supposed to be top shelf. I'm sure you will be very happy with the purchase. Can't wait to hear the exhaust!

That suit is friggin sweet! So far the weather should be decent. I just waterproofed my Alter Ego stuff and redoing the FroggToggs tomorrow so it doesn't really matter to me.

If anyone else is considering a one piece "touring" suit, here is an amazing deal on a Fieldsheer Cyclone (replaced the Highland II). I'm very tempted to get one for next fall or just for the early morning 75 mile commute. The old Highland II's were going for the same price a month ago so this is a steal. Lots of other goodies for cheap as well.

If any of the Manassas guys want to ride tomorrow after 3pm let me know. I don't care if it takes 4 hours to get home, I just want to ride! (away from the city of course)

Jay- That suit is bad ass. It was first on my list but when I was ready to make that purchase they no longer had any 46's left. If I wasn't such a fat ass I would be rocking a celtic also!!

I don't know. All depends on what the 10% is like. If its good then we could go to the mountains on the regular route. If we only have a partial day then we could do the Caroline area.

I checked weather.com for Springfield, VA and Fredericksburg and Sunday is a high of 70 with 20-30% of rain.

Tomorrow is going to be the nicest day this weekend, 75 degrees and no precipitation.

I am so jealous, I really wish I could join you guys but I am going out of town tonight for the weekend. Plus I got the new pipes in the mail yesterday and the fender eliminator, they look sweet too, but it is frustrating since I've been waiting on them and now I don't have the time to put them on the bike and ride this weekend! Hopefully I can catch up with you guys next weekend! Have fun and stay safe...

I honestly can't tell you how we get there, but its a sweet route and all back roads from Maidens. We end up in Nelson County below C'Ville. I just got a text message from my buddy and looks like we'll be heading out there on Sunday unless the rain is imminent. There is usually 4-10 of us and we keep the pace reasonable and "prepayable". Some of the roads are knee draggable so we do have some fun. Coming from Alex you're a little over an hour from my house which is near Ladysmith (exit 110 off I95) in Beaverdam. From there its back roads to the meeting place. Typically about 300 miles so it would be closer to 400 for you. I don't know what your skill level is but we always wait for the slower/unfamiliar riders at every stop sign. PM me your info if you're interested.

Anybody else want to possibly go to the mountains Sunday? Let me know!

Sunday, 10am at Wawa in Central Park, Fredericksburg. Planning on riding until the rain chases us home. So I'm guessing that will be around 3 or so.

Ha ha! Reached out & dragged a finger on the pavement today. (Figured I had to try touching down something, since I can't seem to drag a knee.)

    That's correct.

L8RGYZ- that's awesome! We need to get a pic of that. I didn't know your arms were so long.

Did it again today... so it must not be that big a deal. Moe was behind me and he was pumped when he saw it.

We had 8 people. Definitely a hooligan ride. Fun time... but I feel a little guilty leading a ride like that. Now they will all expect it... until the first ticket.
